The RIP attacked and captured a GTT ship.

Happy New Year!
Due to Mica missing out some brackets, wormholes were detected everywhere. Please ignore these!

*********Space Battles*********

A poor week for the AFT. Having been caught in orbit over a desolate world they were easy prey for the RIP. Two AFT warships were destroyed in the assault and a third was captured by the RIP. The initial presence of the lone RIP Lugger may well have been bait. If so, then the bait was swallowed along with the hook, line and sinker. Score to the pirates. It has been assured that the fact that the system is owned by the FET and the AFT are their biggest rivals has no bearing on the events. The attack was purely coincidental.

RIP Rampage
A series of blistering raids across the peripheries has led to a number of vessels being captured. A lone pirate warship attacked a flotilla of FET vessels as they wandered unprotected in and out of orbit. While half a dozen scattered, one was singled out, derelicted and boarded. Even the DTR fell prey as a lone warship was bested in single combat. Heads will roll for this unusual turn of events.
*********Ground Battles*********

The Flagritz have removed a DEN nuisance from one of their world. The attack was more a case of a slaughter than a battle. As to whether the DEN will retaliate, only time will tell.

*********Space Battles*********

The RIP gave the GTT and FET the slip this week, neatly avoiding a task force that was sent to destroy them.
A minor skirmish with the DTR ended in frustration as the RIP Deep Explorer ran for cover at the first sign of danger and escaped with only minor damage.

Eurocheque Charges
We recently been informed by our bank that they now charge 20.00 pounds to process Eurocheques due to the ending of the scheme. This is obviously not worth the cost so unless you are sending a large amount of money and don't mind paying this fee, it would be better to avoid using this method of payment in future.

The RIP appear to have given the Imperial block the runaround this week. Imperial vessels patrolled everywhere and only discovered the RIP as they were leaving. Unfortunately for the IMP War Galley Voyeur, the RIP were also on patrol and blew it to pieces.

There was close call in the Solo system as tension between the Dominion and the Flagritz hots up. Pressure is on the AFT to maintain the neutrality of this system. With the influx of AFT warships, this coming week could well prove critical to the upkeep of peace within the system. Have the Dominion got the audacity to flout AFT law?

An IMP Patrol Cruiser, hot of the shipyard became the most recent acquisition of the RIP as it was waylaid in the middle of nowhere. If the IMP are now building ships for the RIP, maybe they should save the hassle of combat and allow the RIP to fly them straight from the starport. (ooh you nasty spiteful GM)

The IMP released their fury at being bullied by the RIP by turning up en masse and giving a lone little pirate war galley the thrashing of its life. Nothing escaped, not even dust. (GM attempting to resist picking on the IMP further this week, it's about time he had a go at the DTR or the FGZ)

Phoenix Update
Work is furiously being done on Phoenix. The name appears to be here to stay as despite early ridicule nobody has come up with anything better, nosireebob. Come the April pubmeet we will have ship designs, battles, manifests, full basic turns and much more to present. We should even have a number of rule books (no snirking, please). Then begins the long haul of quantifying current BSE for the conversion.

A carefully laid entrapment planned and executed by the Detinus Republic ensured that there was no escape for the RIP Predator class Sirion. Barrages of ion cannons swiftly derelicted the vessel. Now is it just go on board and sweep the resulting dust of the command deck. There goes the GM's hopes of ribbing the DTR.

*********Subspace Static Week 9 Year 201 - 1st March 2001*********  [Recruit]

*********Space Battle*********

This week proved utterly disastrous for the RIP. Despite half a dozen engagements, they failed to capture a single ship. Many attacks involved barrages of ion cannon fire into the victims, all proving to give negligible results. During one skirmish four RIP warships assaulted a lone DOM Ship of the Line. The sudden demise of one of the RIP ships during the opening volley was a clear portent of fate of the battle.

*********Space Battle*********

The DTR swoop in on a suspected RIP stronghold. Having discovered a number of pirate vessels working a region of space, DTR scouts flooded the area loaded with sensors. Having discovered a secret space station with a RIP ship in orbit, the fleet was sent in. Having defeated all naval reserves, the jump troops swarmed the station only to be thoroughly beaten back by the stations defences. The only question is, how will the DTR respond to this arse kicking by a bunch of worthless cutthroats? This has suddenly become a matter of pride.

Lastest Phoenix Update
Ship designs for Phoenix were a major topic for discussion at the last pub meet. With the introduction of permenantly installed items and fixed ship design it was agreed that there should be multiple designs for what is currently one ship design. i.e. a Battleship should have multiple designs for roles as a space fighter carrier, a colony pounder and a ship interceptor. Originally we were going to produce all these designs and agree them with players. We have decided to do the opposite. A program along with explanetory notes will shortly be on our website. This will allow players to design their own ship replacements. While the program is for use by anyone (as when Phoenix is launched all Starbase owners will be able to build their own ships), for the conversion, only affiliation ratified ship designs will be stored. Have fun.
*********Subspace Static Week 10 Year 201 - 8th March 2001*********

A RIP ship was set upon by a few IMP ships. The RIP ship almost managed to get away, but was derelicted just before it managed to escape.

Having discovered and failed to capture a known RIP space station the DTR have been suffering from a dint in their pride. In the full glare of public interest they returned this week to finish the job with their usual impressive style.Unfortunately two DTR ships were destroyed in the opening gambit during which the station was softened up for the coming ground assault. A miscalculation however left the station more than capable of smashing the DTR task force. It would seem that the pirates hold the station for a second week. Are we seeing the human side of the DTR?
(Nice change to rib the DTR, keep it up lads-GM banter)

The CNF have launched a major offensive against the Clans. Using vast military reserves they hurtled into two major Clan colonies and captured them with very little resistance. The Clan were completely demoralized by this overwhelming show of force. This was without a doubt a spectacular act of precision and coordination. Have the Confederacy become the new DTR, their star certainly appears to be on the ascent?
*********Other News*********

Thanks for the largely positive response to the ship design program. More information will be appearing on the website next week. This will include more details on items and some basic rules. Special technology will be sent out to various affiliations over the coming weeks.

RIP Season
Not to be outdone by the Confederacy or the Detinus Republic, the Imperial Services have jumped on the bandwagon. Favouring the tried and tested method of overwhelming odds, the Imperial fleet left the lone RIP ship as little more than glowing embers, quickly cooling in the frozen wastes of space. Nice shooting Tex.

The DTR, having taken stock of the situation, re-engaged the RIP secret space station, this time packing a large amount ground forces. The results were overwhelming. The pirates were rounded up and placed in security holdings and the prisoners were liberated. After a tempory loss of co-ordination, the DTR appear to be back on track. All hail the Republic, the last bastion of morality in a truly wicked universe.

The Brotherhood Broadcasting Command (BBC) televised across subspace scenes of the inauguration of Brother Axel, formerly vice command of the CIA and now Patriarch of the Brotherhood. This ceremony was conducted at Ceilidh-Veldt by none other than Pope Mark Eaton, the leader of the Inner Confederacy. Is this merely pomp and circumstance or are the implications further reaching. The cunning of the CIA combined with the righteous ruthlessness of the Brotherhood, a dangerous mix indeed.

A swift assault by a RIP Nebulon on a DEN Wolflord proved ineffectual. Multiple hits to the main section was insufficient to derelict the craft. By the same token however the Wolflord had no weaponry making it a bit of a toothless beast. Either the DTR are better at patrolling DEN space than the Dewiek or this was a failed death ritual for old ships and captains.

A major offensive by the GTT against the RIP ended in failure when the RIP, having been hit in the same location in the previous week fled.

An interest has been shown in running a paintball on one of the days of the next pub meet in early November. The promise of the 3D Alliance against the rest of the universe seems to be appealing. There is a paintball site here in Blackpool only a few minutes from the Sutton Park Hotel. There was also the suggestion of hosting the Quest meet at the same time for a larger event but also to provide a common enemy. Obviously there will also be the chance to blow the crap out of the KJC Staff.

A calm surface with churning undercurrents this week. Tension was mounting in the Cluster following the dubious liberation of a refugee colony. Threats of violence by the CLN against the DNA appear not to have materialized. Either the CLN's are pussy cats or the DNA have proved themselves to be excellent diplomats. If the latter is true, well done chaps, that's a poke in the eye for those that thought you were rubbish at everything. Inspired by this, there are rumours that colonies with low morales may well be issuing pleas for liberation. Tight-fisted governors beware.

Rogue Nation Brought Low
The Brotherhood, smarting over the insults and aggressive overtures of the Krell nation decided that a lesson taught with fire and brimstone was in order. A brutal and swift attack on the Krell home world was launched. The Krell home world, only recently rebuilt after the Imperial invasion was devastated in the opening barrage. Shortly after shock troops moved in and secured the capital. As to what happens now, only time will tell although it is clear that not only the Krell noses have been knocked out of joint.

Treacherous Imperial Assault
Having captured the Krell homeworld and knowing the futility of an extended occupation within hostile territory the Brotherhood wisely entered into peace talks with the Imperial Services. The culmination of such talks led to the peaceful handing of the control of the principle colony on Inversion over to the Imperial Services as per the mandate. The Imperial Services, not content with playing by the book, after gaining control of the colony opened fire on the remaining Brotherhood evacuation squad within the starport, butchering all the troops and capturing the ground party's possessions.

RIP Back in Action
It would appear that the RIP have discovered a new trick. Using ships with individual positions on their enemy list has meant that they can pluck a single undefended ship from a cluster rather than watching the pack scatter as they open fire on all. This proved enough to whip a DTR Intruder clean away. The Republic are likely to be frothing at the mouth.
*********Ground Battles*********

CIA Liberate Persecuted Clan Colonists
The story is that having been tipped off about a Clan colony suffering from mass famine and illness along with a lack of housing and poor morale, the CIA felt obligated to intercede on the colonists behalf. A token impoverished defence force swiftly threw down their weapons and virtually embraced the troops as they marched through open gates. Cheers and banners greeted the CIA force while the governor fled with his few loyal bully-boys. Then again they would say that wouldn't they!

DNA Throw Bricks
The Naplians have put away their spears and slings and brought in some bombers to smash the RIP forces previously engaged. Once again though the RIP ran for cover. Strafing techniques or long range bombardments may also have to be employed in order to get these little cowards.

RIP take a good thrashing
Having provoked the ire of the DTR, they responded in the way they are famous for, overwhelming force. Entire fleets were sent on patrols covering a considerable area of the peripheries including once again, Dewiek space.
From all accounts, Dewiek space is Dewiek in name only. Are the DEN hibernating or have they become a fur glove worn by the Detinus Republic? The more cynical may view it as the Dewiek pulling strings and using the DTR as chore ladies, but then why should they hunt the RIP if they are not targeted?
Whatever your view, there is no doubting the capabilities of the DTR when they set their mind to a task, they are truly fearsome.
It would seem that even the SMS, simple miners have had to resort to protecting their shipping in alien nation's space. Again the RIP suffered from a swift and brutal strike. We are reminded that it was these prospectors that played one of the most significant parts in the war between the Empire and the Flagritz Nation. Humble miners, aye?
*********Other News*********

Clan Governor Stands Trial
The former governor of Abydos was taken off-world under CIA guard to a Clan courthouse in order to stand trial for brutality against the colonists under his governorship. The charges levied against him were those of mass starvation, gross incompetence leading to the subsequent death of over 25,000 colonists during an eighteen month period. The condemning evidence was presented by numerous off-worlders and holographic evidence. It is hardly surprising that he was found unanimously guilty, vindicating the recent CIA liberation of the colony.
Presuming these proceedings to be above suspicion and accepting that the Clan are capable of these atrocities against their own people such that it requires the intervention of an alien government, the Felini would do well to review their reunification policy.

GM's Opinion
Virtually all subspace static is written with a bias. It has always been so and will always be so. Many of the points expressed are done so with the aim of viewing the events through the eyes of the protagonists, those performing the action. The GM supports all activity that makes the game more interesting for a goodly number of players and tries to reflect this in the week's commentary. This can mean that they are sometimes speculative or at others, wildly inaccurate (especially if they concern the more questionable affiliations) but should be entertaining.

A word document concerning agents and operatives has been added to the website. This will give you some idea of the actions these positions can perform. Obviously the play testing may alter some of the values such as chance of success depending on how unbalancing the actions are. It is believed that these positions will play a major role in the game especially when it comes down to sabotaging ignored outposts. Please remember when looking at the numbers of security complexes per population, starbases will not house anywhere near as many personnel as colonies.

Dewiek Assault CIAThe reasons for the attack on the CIA by the DEN are a little hazy. It may be that the recent spate of activity in the Cluster by the CIA was seen as the first toe hold by the Confederacy into realms bordering on their territory. It may be that the DEN view the Clans as their own personal punch bag and have taken great offence to others joining in. Finally it could be purely bloody-mindedness justified only on the strength that they could so they did. The attack was conducted by a squadron of Direwolves, possibly the best warship in the peripheries. While the colony was hammered, drop troops prepared to jump in. Luckily for the CIA, the orbital bombardment was insufficient to completely destroy the military quarter and the jump troops were repeatedly shot until blood-matted fur clogged the starport. So the first wave was repelled and the CIA remain in control of the colony. The question is, what next?

Learning from PiratesThe Imperial Services turned the tables on the RIP by successfully derelicting one of their lone freighters.

Fun and Games
Last week's assault on the CIA colony colony in the Cluster by the DEN has obvious brushed some up the wrong way. A week of political wrangling has ensued. It was not long before the Detinus Republic and Dominion were drawn in on the side of Dewiek Elder Nation. Backing from the Brotherhood and recent converts to the True One, the Flagritz lined up alongside the the CIA. It is fascinating to note that in the ensuing battle the CIA turned tale and buggered off with all haste, leaving their allies to destroy the lone DEN ship. The term 'puppet-masters' seems awfully apt. The fleeing CIA ship ran squarely into a huge war fleet and was summarily blown to bits - just deserts.

The Streets are Paved with Gold A great monument was unveiled at the SMS headquarters Farcry this week. A long time in the making, a towering statue of a frontier explorer was revealed to the gathered masses. Supporting his drill (the part being played by one of the colony hiports), the prospector is apparently preparing to initiate test drilling. As the several hundred metres high statue was revealed by the lifting of huge covers, the murmur of the gathered crowd died to an awed silence. The silence, in turn, soon exploded into the thunder of thousands of voices as it dawned upon the ore-savvy spectators that the statue is made out of purest gold. After the commotion had died down - which took quite some time - the Company Commander of the SMS delivered a brief speech. He expressed his conviction that this 'new colossus' would serve as a fitting monument to the thousands of explorers of all races who have committed their lives to the mapping of the great unknown and who, in doing so, have made themselves the very conerstone of their civilizations.

The tension builds in the Cluster as neither side is prepared to make the first move. The Dewiek are in a diplomatic quandary. The first attack against the CIA in retaliation for agent actions was a partial success, damaging but not capturing the colony. The long term effect of this was the loss of two Direwolves and some face. Now they have a choice of whether to carry on the assault, which considering the already damaged status of the colony presents them as war-mongering butcherers or disengage having achieved effectively nothing. The future of the 3D alliance could depend on the next action taken by the DEN.

The combined forces of the Brotherhood and their most recent converts the Flagritz and the Hive co-ordinated a joint jump assault into heavily defended Clan colony. The initial fighting was intense with both sides dieing like flies. First to be butchered were the Brotherhood. The Flagritz and Hive fought on, slowly becoming either demoralized or killed. Finally the inhabitants of the colony had had enough and were ready to surrender, unfortunately for the attacking force there was nobody left to surrender to.

A number of new files have been added to the website covering a range of aspects from research to merchandising and ship building. The rulebook for running ships will also be on the website over the weekend. This covers everything from running and maintaining a ship to aspects such as combat and patrols. These will give you some idea of the depth that has been achieved in writing this game. The final rulebook covering starbases will be out soon as well. Affiliations are advised to start discussing the basics of ship design techs. These can largely be determined now with blueprints of specific internal configurations being produced closer to the time of conversion.

Pirate Uprising
The imperial rumour mill is on overload at the moment. The veracity of the following cannot be testified for. Apparently the RIP are planning a big hit against the BHD. Imperial forces have discovered signs of a RIP build-up in Tycoon although the RIP disappeared rather than confront the IMP warfleet. From prisoners captured it has been determined that the RIP are becoming a cohesive force. Once complete it will be sufficient to attack the Brotherhood in more than just a hit and run encounter. Specifics of the plans have not been forwarded. Why should the IMP warn the BHD? Even more spurious are rumours that hidden CIA bases are being used to support the RIP in this action and the CIA have actually kited out some RIP ships specifically for this purpose.

Major RIP Offensive Curtailed
A fleet of over a dozen RIP ships were caught between the hammer and the anvil by the Confederacy. Having discovered the RIP presence in orbit around a Confederate space station, a task force consisting of Confederate and Brotherhood warships swiftly moved to engage. The fight was bloody and one sided, destroying every last one of the RIP ships. The station was unfortunately not saved as a RIP jump assault, launched after the space battle managed to capture the station. It is a question now of whether the Confederate forces will launch a counter jump assault or blast the station into fragments using the orbiting fleet.

End Game
After a wearying day slogging across bogs and marshes, the two factions of battle hardened veterans formed up facing each other across no-man's land. On one side the forces of the Detinus Republic. Arrayed against them the rest of the universe. Even the EEM had abandoned their normally neutral stand in order to oppose them. A scream of pure hatred and the two forces stormed forwards clashing and suffering heavy casualties in the opening seconds. Only minutes had passed before the strain of the combat and a lack of resources started to swing the combat in favour of the DTR. Valiantly the combined forces of the FEL, CIA, KRL, AFT, IMP, DOM and EEM battled on, making charge after charge only to be cut down by superior firepower and tactics. Just when the battle looked lost, the EEM in an uncharacteristic display of ruthlessness cut down the DTR's youngest recruit in the back from point blank. Unfortunately this was not enough as the final push by the DTR found CIA's Chris "Bury my face down so the DTR can kiss my arse" Lancaster bravely trying to hold them off despite having exhausted all ammo. The day went to the DTR..... next year though......

Solo claim swings back and forth

The situation in Solo appears to be getting even more heated. First the NHS dropped 600,000 troops to contest the system and then the DTR answered with enough troops of their own to trump the NHS claim. The NHS found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim up to 750,000 and once again the DTR answered, bringing Solo back under DTR control. Now the NHS have had a look down the back of the sofa and found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim to a massive 900,000 trained troops. We wait to see if the DTR have an answer to this. We can only guess where all these troops are coming from, but what is clear is that the established affiliations clearly have far larger armies than many thought.

NHS attempt to claim Solo away from DTR

In a shock move the NHS have contested the Solo claim with a huge garrison of 600,000 trained troops. In a move that nobody saw coming, especially as it was unknown the NHS had such a large force of troops to draw upon, the NHS seem to be provoking a response from the DTR. Currently there has been no word from the DTR in how they are going to deal with this claim jumping, although rumours are that they are pretending the Solo claim doesn't really matter to them and so action is unlikely. However this may be a smokescreen and we may yet see the DTR's powerful fleet cause havoc in the system of Solo, which has for a long time been an important junction and fought over by many different factions.

Greetings CEO Fox.
It regrets me to have to inform to you that the DNA nation state will be renouncing its claim on Aladdin system following a ceremony planet side, shortly.
However, it gives me great pleasure to have to inform you that these ceremonies are being planned by Vladimir Tavikovitch, the South Road Traffic Coordinator. For any and all other matters, please forward your request directly to the DNA directorate services at NexusID: DNA people.

Normally i would sign off with Naambta, but doing so would be hypocritical. Let me say good riddance instead.
I hereby resign in protest!

DTR threaten WMB with fines for multiple breaches of DTR Law

Lady Sylvansight of the DTR has issued a fine of 1,000,000 stellars to the Wimbles for multiple breaches of DTR Penal and Territorial Law. This seems a very brave move of the DTR to risk upsetting the huge and warlike WMB when they also have the rival NHS Solo system claim to deal with. No word has been recieved yet that the Wimbles are going to pay, but if the formidable WMB warfleet is seen heading for the DTR home systems we will know what their thought are on the matter. The DTR and WMB fleets going head to head would be a sight to behold.

DNA and GTT clash over Aladdin system claim while Pirates look on.

The GTT have this week launched an attack on the DNA outpost in Aladdin, in what appears to be little more than a turkey shoot. Around 100,000 GTT Naplian Startroopers attacked the DNA position to remove the rival system claim. Reports indicate the DNA garrison were taken by surprise and lost control of the base in the first few hours of the fighting. The base has since been reflagged from [Free Naplian Capital] Peaceful Protest to [Loyal Naplian Capital] DNA claim Ended so it's fair to say there was a clear message being sent by the GTT. We have been waiting for the DNA leadership to comment but so far they have been unusually silent. No doubt when they have crawled out from under their desks they will have something to say on the matter.

While this attack was going on several pirate ships were also seen in Aladdin, according to the GTT in what may be true or may be a diversion, with reports of a pirate GP and scout being destroyed while a 150HH pirate warship slipped away and escaped from incoming anti-pirate patrols.

Secret meeting of the EEM

A recent communication intercepted by one of our top reporters today made us aware of a meeting of the EEM. This is underway in a top secret location called Black Pool, which sounds suspiciously like the lair of a pirate band. After pulling in many favours, we were able to identify some of the attending members. On the bases that they won't be named we were able to find out some slight information of the subjects to be discussed at the meeting and one thing is for certain, there could be huge impacts to the lives of everybody living in the galaxy. Details to follow. When the shadowy figures of the EEM come together with the top political players in a pirate base the possibilities are endless!

You are never more than 6 systems from a RAT 🐀

A new saying has arisen in the bars and spaceport of starbases throughout the many peripheries; you are never more than 6 systems from a RAT.

It is understood that this saying originated in Yank and spread by trade vessels to peripheries far and wide. Many starbases have heightened their security and added additional sensors and locks to various entry points including foul and grey water outfalls. Beer and drug stocks are undergoing increased proofing to avoid the critters gaining entry and consuming the stockpiles.

Will this present as a new plague of proportions never before seen or is this some simple urban myth being spread for the amusement of some mischievous entity? Who knows, but to be certain... check the shadows.

Mostly drinking beer and talking toot though we have a good few things on the agenda.

Dog days are over

With the fall of the DEN and the implosion of their home territory as the AFT, DTR and GTT moved in, it was unlikely the Dewiek would rise again. The DWP gave the species a little hope with the Dewiek Pocket Periphery kept under lock and key. But news has reached us of the AFT's penetration of this private area of space that's been locked down. With a base and claim in one of the three visible systems it seems that the end of the Dewiek is near. A once noble and aggressive race, determined to make an impact on the galaxy is now little more than a species that lives under the command of others. A sad end to a once powerful species that used to control a significant part of known space.

Pirate activity continues

Yet more reports of pirate activity have been received, one from the WMB, losing a freighter in Solo and another from the FET who reported they had engaged and hit the attacking pirate ship with several weapons before it managed to make off with it's prize. Hopefully the pirate ship took significant damage and will now be out of action for some time. The Corewards periphery seems to have been plagued with pirates recently and many travellers would welcome a break from attacks.

MEK incursion into Corewards

The FET and GTT have mounted a joint venture into Nog-Kesri to tackle a MEK force. It isn't known where they have come from, with the only other MEK ships seen so far being located in the Orion Spur. The lack of a known link between where they have appeared in Corewards and the Orion Spur has caused some concern among planetary populations as who knows where they could turn up next! Fortunately the combined FET/GTT task force dealt the MEK a heavy blow and the threat has been eradicated. But we all know this is unlikely to be the last we hear of the MEK in Corwards and we would encourage ship captains to keep a keen eye on thier sensor screens when travelling near Nog-Kesri.

    Aladdin faces ongoing DNA/GTT tension

The tensions between the DNA and GTT in the Coptuv system recently spilled over into the DNA system of Aladdin. A significant party of GTT ground troops has reinforced one of their bases in the system and claimed it, forcing the system claim into turmoil as the DNA finds itself under threat of losing the system. With the DNA chairman asking for help, several affiliations have been seen sending ships to evacuate any in the local population that want to escape the GTT. But so far not a shot has been fired and despite the AFT, FEL and DTR assistance no reisistance to the claim jump has been encountered so far. It remains to be seen if the DNA and it's friends will scatter before this hostile take over or put in a last minute counter claim to thwart GTT intentions.

    Increasing pirate activity

Recent reports indicate a new surge in pirate attacks with the AFT and GTT reporting ships lost. Knowing how some don't like to advertise losses we wouldn't be surprised if this is the tip of the iceberg. Reports passed to us show the ship PIR Scavenger running ID 43174 and another ship of the same name running ID 68668 have both been in action with successful boarding attempts. It's unknown whether these are seperate ships or the same ship reregistered, but our information suggests that it would be hard for these pirates to cover the space where these attacks happened with just one ship. One thing is for sure, be on your guard as open space is not as safe as it once was.

GCE ships loitering in deep space

After the fall of the GCE and a lot of their assets being shared or purchased it was thought that the affiliation was no more. Yet deep space scans indicate that there is still a significant number of GCE warships holding station in deep space between Coptuv and Yank on the transport route into the Corwards Arm. Nobody knows what these ships are up to and why they are still flagged GCE, but our best guess is that are captains either awaiting new orders or owners after the fall of the GCE command structure.

    Tension in the Corewards Arm

With the DNA obtaining several ex-GCE bases in the Coreward Arm it has found itself in the middle of an asset grab of serious proportions and aggression. Our reporters witnessed several GTT troop carriers heading for the Corewards system as the DNA published information suggesting they were accidental owners of the system and that the assets were to be moved on. As the GTT ships started to arrive the bases were quickly passed to the CIA, thus thwarting the GTT intentions as they were hardly likely to start dropping troops on their allies bases. This shrew move by the DNA seems to have calmed matters in the Coreward arm temporarily, although the shift in relations between the GTT and DNA has taken a negative turn. When asked what their next move might be the GTT refused to comment.

    GCE collapse

The GCE are no more, save for some scattered light freighters. The affiliation which enjoyed a sharp rise and profiltable relations with many has ceased trading. Rumors point to the GTT buying up GCE assets before stripping the rival corporation of anything of value. Although our reporters at the SSS have been quick to point out that any GCE assets not in GTT systems have been taken over by both the DNA and FET. So it seems many different affiliations were able to profit from this development including a new group called the HSH who appear to have taken over the GCE war fleet. No doubt many in the peripheries will be watching with interest where these ships are used, who the HSH are and how they were able to get thier hands on so many warships so quickly.

    Secudus trials

In the Cluster Secudus has continued his trials, claiming to root out terrorists working against the Empire. With tends of thousands of beings being sent to the camps or worse. There is no sign of these actions stopping as the NHS clamp down on the locals and bring them under the harsh control of the Empire.

    Persistent Browser-Based Game (PBBG)

I’ve played on and off for approximately 10 years, over a 20 year spell. After some interesting debate on the in-game forum, I did wonder what, exactly, has kept drawing me back to the game, when for so many others I’ve generally lost interest after a few months.

Ultimately, I think it is a combination of automation (that allows the game to handle thousands of positions to interact on a daily basis) coupled with Special Actions (that allow the story arc to develop in a way that could not be catered for by a set of predefined list of available orders).
