Subspace Static Week 1 Year 200 - 6th January 2000  [Recruit]

*********Space Battle*********

Disaster A cunning plan was devised. This was the construction of a fleet of small ships each armed with ion cannons. This large fleet would then engage a small fleet of larger ships in an attempt to kill all the life forms thus rendering the fleet derelict. Brilliant. Unfortunately the smaller fleet was more than competently manned. The result was that the Dewiek Direwolf warfleet smashed twice their number of Clan Cygnets without suffering a single dereliction. Only a single CLN Cygnet escaped the destruction only to be destroyed by a DEN colony when it entered orbit.

*********Ground Assault*********

The Clans are revolting Following some carefully planned pyrotechnics and sabotage Clan militia stormed the recently captured Dewiek colony in a brave attempt to liberate their comrades. The Dewiek were obviously unprepared for the assault, having failed to first ensure the security of their newly captured prize. Without the aid of air support their may have been doomed had the Clan militia from the nearby urban sectors had more than small arms. Still it was a brave assault and worthy of a mention in any ballad of heroes.

*********Other News*********

Well, so starts a new year. Always good to bring it in with a bang. We have lots to look forward to. The ongoing hostilities between the Clan and the Dewiek, a political miasma settling over the human empires and the introduction of the ground battle program in the very near future. I will publish more details about the battle program in next week's SSS. Oh, and all those players that sent in their special action turns for my first day back, thanks guys. <g>

*********Ground Battles*********

The Imperial forces smashed a skirmish party that was attempting to sabotage their research facilities. Unfortunately ship from which they launched the sneaky assault got away.

*********Other News*********

New Ground Battle

As stated last week this will be introduced in a few weeks but before, some information has to be issued.
Troops are needed for optimum efficiency of ground equipment. This is set at 1 troop per item although full combined arms training will increase this to 1 troop per 5 item. Lack of troops means that vehicles will be less effective in combat (down to 50% min).

Attacks involving colonies also have collateral damage being applied to the other colony sectors. Power and items that generate power have a chance of exploding that will do further damage to the colony.
Each round all troops and military equipment fire at their own rate with the damage being applied as it hits. This will allow a fast low mass equipment to fire first (i.e. troops) which can mean that they will destroy slower bulkier equipment before it can retaliate.

More details to follow.

*********Space Battle*********

A dangerous mission to remove valuable technology from a colony went pear shaped when the Clan ship transporting the equipment wandered into the path a number of Dewiek ships. The result was conclusive and only dust remained.

*********Other News*********

Ground Battle Program Update

To clarify the troops per item situation. This is calculated each round and is based only on the items being used during the round. Thus if two items are not used in the same round of combat only one troop is needed. The number of troops per item is called the Combat Efficiency (CE) this is noted on the combat. Below is a cut down example (the enemy was not included).

Subspace Static Week 4 Year 200 - 27th January 2000  [Recruit]

*********Space Battle*********

A lone DTR Nebulon was attacked and destroyed by a lone RIP Battleship. As this happened in on of the remotest parts of the peripheries questions may soon be asked. Shortly after this attack a single DEN ship was also blown up by the same RIP Battleship. Coincidence?

*********Massacre*********

Having previously fled their colony in fear of the DEN horde, the Clan colonists waited to be picked up. Unfortunately for them the DEN preceded to hassle them in the starport. Unwilling to go quietly the DEN massacred every last one of them in a ruthless display of power. Estimates place the death toll in the tens of thousands. Wether this was the act of a single vicious commander or on direct orders from central command has not been determined.

Tests continue on the new land battle program but should be finalized very soon. It is likely that it will be implemented at the beginning of March. The general findings are that troops are awesome so build those boot camps and transfer that training to all your colonies.

Announcement from the SMS Company Commander
The human known as Delivos has been delivered into the custody of the SMS, where charges have been filed against him for crimes against humanity. There will be a four week Finding of Facts during which the SMS will investigate whether these charges are plausible. Any organisations or individuals that have facts, testimony or evidence that pertain to these charges are asked to kindly make contact with the Inquisitor's Office at SMS Farcry. Once the Finding of Facts has been completed and conclusions been drawn it will be determined whether or not there is a basis to take Delivos to court over these charges. If so, then an appropriate court will be located to try the case.

*********Space Battle*********

The Confederate forces appear to have become embroiled in the turmoil surrounding the Clans. A skirmish fleet of warships destroyed a lone Clan Grizzly class warship.

*********Boarding Action*********

In an unprecedented move, FET troops boarded and captured an Imperial ship while it was landed in an Imperial starport. How this bizarre turn of events occurred is uncertain at this time but footage of the event clearly show the FET troops spraying slogans labelling Jasil, Lysander and Simms as (...edited out). The colony troops did not pursue the troops back to their ship.

Message from the DTR

Due to changes in the DTR Territorial Law, as of week 10 the DTR systems will no longer be subject to access restrictions. Amongst other changes this means that the Venice and T.Tauri systems may now be entered and explored by the general public; the Badlands, Faery and Abyss systems have been placed under DTR Martial Law and will remain restricted until further notice. A copy of the new DTR laws will be published in the next IGN. Make sure you know the laws before entering our space! ATTENTION: Space Square 2654 in Venice and Space Square 2056 in T.Tauri, including all planetary bodies therein, are Restricted Area. Access is denied on pain of posting!
Message from the Hexamon PD

The insect race called the Hexamon (HXM) is currently being played as a single player scenario. The scenario is about the survival of the Hexamon race and the resurrection of the Hexamon Empire, an Empire which was destroyed by the DEN. This scenario, however, has grown quite rapidly lately and has become too big for a single player to handle. The Hexamon will therefore open its doors to new recruits. Should you be interested in helping resurrecting the Hexamon Empire then please do not hesitate to contact me.

*********Space Battle*********

The RIP have have continued their pursuit of the Dominion, even to the point of launching attacks at certain key locations such as stargates. This could prove disastrous for other traders.

*********Land Battles*********

The Hexamon control of their only system was shattered when the Falconians invaded. As to why the Falconians are persecuting the Hexamon, little has been made public. Speculation has it that they are doing it because then can.

*********Other News*********

Ground Battle

The fine tweaking of this has been just about completed. This though has raised an interesting point. Ships, with a cargo of superior troops, landing at hostile colonies will inflict vicious amounts of damage to the colony's forces when they attempt to board them making them impossible to capture. To compensate for this, the program has been modified to reinforce the troops from the colony between combat rounds based on the morale of the colony. Colony governors can issue the Land Battle order against ships in their starports that will send in the fighters and bombers to reduce the offending ship to scrap metal. As with all battles, these are processed at the end of the week.

*********Space Battle*********

The DTR have been patrolling this week cleaning AFT space. The tour of duty destroyed two RIP vessels that have been making life difficult for a number of weeks.

*********Ground Battles*********

An attempt by the Falconians to remove the last vestiges of the HXM from Wasteland failed miserably. It would appear that when not whomping one legged bugs and eggs a very different picture is painted.

The Krell appear to have learnt their assault tactics from their allies the Falconians. This was revealed by their failure to capture a small colony after a rather impressive show of force.

(sorry lads, couldn't resist <g>)

*********Other News*********

Nerve Gas Attack
A rather inventive tactic was used to nerve gas an IMP colony. Finding a distant outpost connected via teleporter link allowed a crack squad to send a batch of nerve gas directly to the colony without the hassle of even being on the same planet. This lethal dose is believed to have killed thousands! Now this cowardly tactic has been brought to light, it is unlikely to succeed a second time as filters and other checking paraphernalia are swiftly installed throughout the peripheries. All credit for a nice idea (but can't let it run rampant).

Pub Meet - Courtesy of Graeme Hay
As the last one was a drunken success (even BSE got discussed).... we're having another. The next Blackpool BSE weekend pubmeet will be held on the weekend of Friday 14th April to Sunday 16th April. This will be the same hotel as last time (Sutton Park Hotel).

Price will be 30 pounds each (10 pounds cheaper than last time), which covers both nights, breakfasts, and buffets on both nights. (NOTE: the price is dependant on a minimum of 20 people as we have to guarantee the hotel 600 pounds, if we get less than 20 attendees then it will be a couple of pounds more each).

Places at the hotel are limited to the first 27(ish, depending on how many couples we get to share a bed, therefore freeing up another place).

For those of you who can't make it for the whole weekend (shame on you <g>), we'll be holding a mini pubmeet on the Saturday, so you can come and join at least the Saturday afternoon part of the pubmeet.

*********Space Battle*********

Two concerted efforts by the RIP to capture vessels failed this week. In one instance they destroyed one of the ships they were attacking while in the other the ship was very lucky, just managing to avoid dereliction.
Alarm bells rang when the DTR scanned and IND Nemesis class ship with a wormhole stabilizer. Swiftly a squadron was mustered and a course was set to intercept. A swift scuffle later and the Nemesis was derelicted. It would seem that the RIP's idea of disguise is a large plastic nose attacked to thick black glasses.

*********Ground Battles*********

Advantage was taken of new combat program this week. It would seem that everything is working well.
The Confederacy showed that they can back words with action. An army of jump troops dropped directly into the Clan colony situated in Confederate territory. Sweeping aside all opposition, they blasted their way through the defences to take control of the colony almost immediately. The attack went without a hitch and even led to the promotion of many troops, many of which are no doubt going to swell the startrooper ranks. Is this the first step towards the conquest of the peripheries.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the Krell. A second assault on the colony they attacked last week ended badly. They colony had not only captured cyberwarriors from the Krell the week before, but had also had troops promoted. Further sacrifice of their phanali work force to stave of further assaults proved the edge and the Krell were annihilated.

The IMP managed to locate a CIA vessel on the surface of a world and intercept it with a task force of troops. The swift action captured the vessel. As to what the IMP will do with a Runner is anybody's guess.

*********Other News*********

Message from the Kastorians to all governors in Yank and Skord

*********Other News*********

The Inner Empire is in flames. Rumours, only recently confirmed tell of Prince Lysander's attack on Earth's Moon in a bid to take control of Earth and the seat of power for the Empire. Fighting has been sporadic and so far civilian casualties are low. This fall into chaos is a direct result of the CNF ceremony to bury the bones of the last Emperor. The ramifications for the Peripheries are uncertain, but should the Emperor win it is likely that reconciliation with the Confederacy will not be his first thought.

The IMP, despite recent talks on unification with the Confederacy still opened fire on a small CIA vessel that happened to wander into orbit of an IMP colony. As to its purpose for this visit, it is almost certain that the CIA will have a credible reason for its presence.

DTR anti-RIP patrols have bagged yet another pirate, this time closer to home. Still it was only a surveyor and they have plenty more tucked away somewhere.

Native Bashing Despite the Imperial Services reassurances to the Democratic Naplian Alliance (DNA) that a new era of peace and understanding between humans and the natives of the Capellan periphery was at hand, the sad truth is that nothing of the kind exists. The was clearly shown when the GTT opened fire on a small and rather insignificant DNA ship that just wanted nothing more than to buy some fissionables and pulac. Well over 100,000 damage was hammered into the little freighter in a matter of seconds. It is absolutely certain that the Imperial Services will be moving their fleet to do to the GTT colony what it did to a legally present ship (GM stirring it up <g>).

Market Reports
Following the suggestions of players eager for trade, the market reports for all colonies are now available in the Web. Even markets for colonies on postal returns are regularly updated (so others will be trading with you). With over 100 colonies to browse through, this saves thousands of TU's on market scans. They can be accessed at present via the DTR website (follow the links on KJC BSE page). Only the market report is included so if you want people to know where your colony is, you will have to contact the DTR and provide them with the appropriate location.

New Bloke
KJC are delighted to announce that Richard Brewster, a long time Quest and BSE player will be joining the ranks here at KJC. He will be very much involved in BSE and will also be improving out web site including lots of BSE stuff (nice and vague). So for those of you who have been Keved and Dannied in the past, you can look forward to being Dicked in the Future<g>.

Rumours from the Inner Empire

With Jasil still missing from the Inner Empire, Lysander has taken up effective control of the Imperial Services. This would be desirable position has been marred by the rebellion of the Chartered Affiliations. Earth and moon are the main target of fighting. Recent rumours and reports of genetic alteration of Lysander have further undermined his cause such that it is unlikely that the throne will make it through intact. As to what this will do to the peripheries, speculation is rife.

*********Space Battle*********

The pirates truly angered the GTT and the IMP this week. The sack of an entire planet of outposts by the RIP had the two imperial factions frothing at the mouth and storming round the system. They were in luck and managed to catch and destroy a RIP Runner. The recent attack on the DNA by the GTT does not appear to have effected the close partnership that has always been the IMP and the GTT.

The RIP's attitude to the loss of the Runner was 'easy come, easy go' and it was not hard to see why. It couldn't have come much easier than the capture of a DOM Ship of the Line (Quad Coated) and an IND Carrier. Both ships were found in the middle of nowhere with no escort with a big sign 'Take Me I'm Yours'.

Subspace Static Week 20 Year 200 - 18th May 2000  [Recruit]

*********Space Battle*********

Time ran out for the RIP. Riding high on the success of last week's anti-RIP patrol, the Imperial Viceroy pushed for a more aggressive role. He was not disappointed with his captains. A short round trip netted two encounters with pirates. Both battles witnessed complete destruction of the RIP forces. If events in Solo are only the beginning, then the IMP may well need this new active role to counter the rise of the Ordo Arachnia.

*********Ground Battle*********

And so it came to pass that the True One spake unto the Brotherhood and bid them take up arms and march on those that would defile the gates to paradise. So was born the Ordo Arachnia. Those that would utilise violence in the name of the Lord for it is unworthy to speak with the infidel. Like comets they plunged from the heavens and put to the sword all those that would imprison and torture the children of a distant sun. Great was the suffering of the peoples as the fled the terror and pestilence that went before the holy zealots of the Ordo Arachnia.
So it came to pass that Retreat, captured by the Dominion from the Flagritz was liberated in the name of the True One. The first blow against the foundations of the 3D alliance has been struck. With rumours of slaves and human experiments rife, it may be difficult for the Detinus Republic to justify reprisals on a humanitarian basis.

user image

Subspace Static Week 21 Year 200 - 26th May 2000  [Recruit]

*********Space Battle*********

Alliance Show of Force
It would appear that the rumours of strife within the 3D Alliance have been greatly exaggerated. Following the assault on Retreat last week by the Brotherhood, supposedly for the freeing of the workslaves and to put an end to the dubious experiments being run, a vast warfleet Alliance convened on the world. The SMS ships, televising the scenes were immediately shot down by the Dominion with the support of the Dewiek and the Detinus Republic. The fury of the Alliance was finally sated with the total annihilation of all naval and military resistance at Retreat. This seems to be in direct defiance of the assurances given to the Brotherhood by the system owners, AFT.
As the Dominion has spent over two millions stellars posting all known Confederate ships, the question is, are they going to go collecting? Is it to be war between the Confederacy and the 3D Alliance? Surely the Confederacy will not stand to see all their shipping under the threat of annihilation? The AFT will have to insist on compensation, or maybe the threat of Ariel going the same way as Retreat will force them to back down.

*********Ground Battle*********

Following the titanic impact of the warfleet, small ground assault teams easily stormed and captured both Retreat and a nearby Brotherhood space station.

The GTT, recently on the receiving end of a series of RIP outpost raids this week caught one of the parties responsible and gave them a thoroughly good thrashing.

The fight is not over for the Confederacy. Despite the looming presence of the 3D Alliance, a pair of ships ventured into the nearby space in order to clear away any 3D Alliance. Luckily for the Confederacy there was only a token force which was swiftly and decisively dealt with.

*********Boarding Action*********

Having regained Retreat, the governor ordered the capture of the ship in the starport. This order was carried out to its utter failure as the Brotherhood ship was stacked full of Meklan (the cybernetically enslaved bodies of slaves and prisoners). Were these taken from the Retreat, giving credence the Brotherhood assault or is there a more insidious reason for their presence?

Disastrous First Engagement
The CIA launched an assault on an Imperial colony although the result was a tragic failure. There may have been a communications error somewhere down the line as after a minor amount of bombing the troops moved in against overwhelming odds.

Having failed to board the Brotherhood ship in the starport last week, the Governor of Retreat resorted to more drastic measures and sent in the bombers. This turned a fairly confidant crew into martyrs instantly.

The RIP are still pirating Dewiek space with a vengeance. This week they managed to capture an AFT Carrier close to one of the most populated planets in the periphery. The RIP appear to be preying on the strong. A serious blow to the DTR esteem was given this week as their unique ship, the last Far Courier class ship was destroyed in a failed cut and run attack by the RIP. With the loss of the ships dies all the design specifications. The IMP attacked some CIA shuttles in orbit, despite heavy casualties the CIA managed to escape.

*********Other News*********

Outpost Security
A few people have questioned how this works so here are the answers. An outpost cannot be interacted with by positions of a different affiliation to the owner if the outpost has at least one security module. Further, should an attempt be made to change the owner of the outpost, the security will be triggered to respond with lethal force. The ground factors for the outpost will be matched with those of the position trying to change ownership. Damage will be inflicted based on the change in the ground factors of each. Obviously should should the outpost have all factors countered, all security is destroyed and the same applies to the ground combat equipment of the position attempting to change ownership. Only if the security is overcome will the ownership be changed. There is no report sent out to the owner of the outpost.

This week saw several RIP battles and an IND run-in for good measure.
A BHD ship was over-run by a RIP ship.

Yet again the DTR are attacked by RIP. A lone RIP Ship versus DTR a ship. Having taken out the DTR crew the RIP then proceeded to board. But during this boarding action the DTR troops managed not only to repel the boarders - but also counter board one of the RIP ships.

An IND ship entered orbit currently occupied by a FET Space Station. The IND ship was quickly destroyed. FET - Frontier, exploration and termination.

The Brotherhood, having lost a vessel to the RIP did a little a praying. This apparently worked as they managed to wander into the same ship a little later and hammered it.

In response to last weeks destruction by the FCN's of a GTT ship, the GTT mobilized a huge attack force consisting of GTT, IMP & FET ships. In the ensuing battle the few FCN ships and the colony were totally annihilated.
Only a few people know just why the GTT had entered orbit of Sahara in the first place?
What will happen now? Will this attack escalate the conflict into a full war?
And just why are the FET claiming the system?

The RIP attacked a lone FET ship, but discovered to late that the ship was not a simple cargo vessel. There is no need to worry about the wreckage of the RIP ship being a space hazard, the debris are just to small.

A kamikaze IMP attack on a CIA Colony ended with a spectacular "fireworks" display above the Colony. The attacking ship almost caused a horrendous amount of damage, but fortunately for the CIA the defences destroyed the ship quickly.

*********Ground Battle*********

A large FET force laid claim to the FCN Colony on Sahara with no resistance as everyone was dead.

A Flagritz attempt to recapture a ship lost to the Dominion was repulsed. It was a close call and a few more troops would easily have swung it in favour of the Flagritz.

*********** Ground Battle **********

GTT troops attempted an invasion of an FCN colony but were easily repulsed by the largely native forces. It may well be that this was just testing the water as a prelude or a more concerted effort.

A slight miscalculation of their ships cloaking time caused a BHD ship to run into some DOM ships, which cleansed the BHD crew.

Yet another IND death by the FET, the IND ship entered orbit of a FET colony.

An armada of IMP, GTT and FET ships attacked a FCN planet - but they didn't appear to have counted on the KRL's help as the attack was unsuccessful. Damage was received by both sides, but nothing conclusive.

*********** Ground Battle **********

Several FET Startrooper forces assaulted different FCN, colonies but were obliterated by the colony defenses.

The GTT walked into a large FCN colony and captured it with ease since there were no defenses.

After last weeks boarding attempt by the FGZ on a DOM position the DOM sent in reinforcements and launched a counter attack and wiped the FGZ force out.

Several skirmishes by the RIP against the FET, DOM and AFT ended with the RIP finally being blown to pieces when it entered orbit of planet containing 2 FET colonies - all the IND practice has been put to use.

The BHD launched a three pronged attack on a RIP ship which was cleansed of pirates.

Inversion has lived up to the systems name, as the Imperial Storm continued its attack on the combined FCN and KRL forces. With more Ships being destroyed, the Derelicts from last week being recaptured and Hiports being blown to pieces the space battle ended with another standoff.

*********** Ground Battle **********

With the ship fire ending four units of FET Startroopers launched attacks on four different Colonies.

Whilst the FET Startroopers carried out their attacks a FET ground force tried the front door of Stronghold, but were defeated.

A KRL force tried to retake the x-FCN colony off the GTT, but the GTT have dug in and refused to be moved.

Meanwhile, continuing on from the previous skirmish between the DOM and FGZ, a reinforcement FGZ force beat the DOM ground party.

Pyrrhic Victory

The Imperial Armada was virtually crushed in wave after wave of Falconian forces. The target of the fleet, the last refuge of the Falconians survived the batteries although the level of civilian casualties is still estimated to be great. After this combat it would appear that the Falconian forces new effectively control the orbit of the the homeworld of the Krell. This victory was marred by the Krell's inability to repel the troops that jumped from orbit into the defenceless colonies. The primary Falconian colony however withstood all the punishment given out by the fleet and was even able to withstand the various assaulting forces. The final outcome appears to be a reversal of the previous weeks with the Empire holding the planet and the Falconians controlling the orbit.

Assault on the Kastorians

The Confederacy have launched a brave but fool hardy assault of the KST by invading their homeworld. The attack was easily repelled and all the troops were butchered with no chance of retreat.

Brotherhood Tribute to the Fallen Faithful
Quiet conversation and a meal is served in the ancillary chamber to the main hall. All the guests are greeted by BHD officials and benediction is granted by the newly appointed Pope Mark Eaton I. Amongst the select Confederate and Brotherhood officials, Lord Seth representative of the Ordo Arachnia causes quite a stir with his retinue of Hive Warriors. Even the Pope appears alarmed by this. After a brief interlude all are summoned for the service. The vast hall is slowly filled with those attending the memorial for the brave troops, martyrs all of them, that died in the service of the True One. The service is led by BHD Patriarch Rion Dracolith. The speeches are solemn, intoning on the justice trials of the faithful and the suffering that will be returned a thousand fold to the heretics. Finally the Pope steps forward to offer his support for the cause of the followers of the True One and his unstinting belief that the Confederacy will eventually dominate the known universe if this show of devotion is indicative of the peripheries.

The fighting at, and around, Inversion continues this week. Yet again there is a change in the situation. In orbit of Inversion the ships and colonies continued their fighting with renewed vigour.
In the space around Inversion a few skirmishes involving several different forces ended with IMP victory as the FCN and KRL ships were destroyed, and then the RIP ships, who mistakenly believed they would find easy pickings, were destroyed.

On a planet far far away, a lone IND ship was the victim of yet another FET colony.

Solo claim swings back and forth

The situation in Solo appears to be getting even more heated. First the NHS dropped 600,000 troops to contest the system and then the DTR answered with enough troops of their own to trump the NHS claim. The NHS found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim up to 750,000 and once again the DTR answered, bringing Solo back under DTR control. Now the NHS have had a look down the back of the sofa and found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim to a massive 900,000 trained troops. We wait to see if the DTR have an answer to this. We can only guess where all these troops are coming from, but what is clear is that the established affiliations clearly have far larger armies than many thought.

NHS attempt to claim Solo away from DTR

In a shock move the NHS have contested the Solo claim with a huge garrison of 600,000 trained troops. In a move that nobody saw coming, especially as it was unknown the NHS had such a large force of troops to draw upon, the NHS seem to be provoking a response from the DTR. Currently there has been no word from the DTR in how they are going to deal with this claim jumping, although rumours are that they are pretending the Solo claim doesn't really matter to them and so action is unlikely. However this may be a smokescreen and we may yet see the DTR's powerful fleet cause havoc in the system of Solo, which has for a long time been an important junction and fought over by many different factions.

Greetings CEO Fox.
It regrets me to have to inform to you that the DNA nation state will be renouncing its claim on Aladdin system following a ceremony planet side, shortly.
However, it gives me great pleasure to have to inform you that these ceremonies are being planned by Vladimir Tavikovitch, the South Road Traffic Coordinator. For any and all other matters, please forward your request directly to the DNA directorate services at NexusID: DNA people.

Normally i would sign off with Naambta, but doing so would be hypocritical. Let me say good riddance instead.
I hereby resign in protest!

DTR threaten WMB with fines for multiple breaches of DTR Law

Lady Sylvansight of the DTR has issued a fine of 1,000,000 stellars to the Wimbles for multiple breaches of DTR Penal and Territorial Law. This seems a very brave move of the DTR to risk upsetting the huge and warlike WMB when they also have the rival NHS Solo system claim to deal with. No word has been recieved yet that the Wimbles are going to pay, but if the formidable WMB warfleet is seen heading for the DTR home systems we will know what their thought are on the matter. The DTR and WMB fleets going head to head would be a sight to behold.

DNA and GTT clash over Aladdin system claim while Pirates look on.

The GTT have this week launched an attack on the DNA outpost in Aladdin, in what appears to be little more than a turkey shoot. Around 100,000 GTT Naplian Startroopers attacked the DNA position to remove the rival system claim. Reports indicate the DNA garrison were taken by surprise and lost control of the base in the first few hours of the fighting. The base has since been reflagged from [Free Naplian Capital] Peaceful Protest to [Loyal Naplian Capital] DNA claim Ended so it's fair to say there was a clear message being sent by the GTT. We have been waiting for the DNA leadership to comment but so far they have been unusually silent. No doubt when they have crawled out from under their desks they will have something to say on the matter.

While this attack was going on several pirate ships were also seen in Aladdin, according to the GTT in what may be true or may be a diversion, with reports of a pirate GP and scout being destroyed while a 150HH pirate warship slipped away and escaped from incoming anti-pirate patrols.

Secret meeting of the EEM

A recent communication intercepted by one of our top reporters today made us aware of a meeting of the EEM. This is underway in a top secret location called Black Pool, which sounds suspiciously like the lair of a pirate band. After pulling in many favours, we were able to identify some of the attending members. On the bases that they won't be named we were able to find out some slight information of the subjects to be discussed at the meeting and one thing is for certain, there could be huge impacts to the lives of everybody living in the galaxy. Details to follow. When the shadowy figures of the EEM come together with the top political players in a pirate base the possibilities are endless!

You are never more than 6 systems from a RAT 🐀

A new saying has arisen in the bars and spaceport of starbases throughout the many peripheries; you are never more than 6 systems from a RAT.

It is understood that this saying originated in Yank and spread by trade vessels to peripheries far and wide. Many starbases have heightened their security and added additional sensors and locks to various entry points including foul and grey water outfalls. Beer and drug stocks are undergoing increased proofing to avoid the critters gaining entry and consuming the stockpiles.

Will this present as a new plague of proportions never before seen or is this some simple urban myth being spread for the amusement of some mischievous entity? Who knows, but to be certain... check the shadows.

Dog days are over

With the fall of the DEN and the implosion of their home territory as the AFT, DTR and GTT moved in, it was unlikely the Dewiek would rise again. The DWP gave the species a little hope with the Dewiek Pocket Periphery kept under lock and key. But news has reached us of the AFT's penetration of this private area of space that's been locked down. With a base and claim in one of the three visible systems it seems that the end of the Dewiek is near. A once noble and aggressive race, determined to make an impact on the galaxy is now little more than a species that lives under the command of others. A sad end to a once powerful species that used to control a significant part of known space.

Pirate activity continues

Yet more reports of pirate activity have been received, one from the WMB, losing a freighter in Solo and another from the FET who reported they had engaged and hit the attacking pirate ship with several weapons before it managed to make off with it's prize. Hopefully the pirate ship took significant damage and will now be out of action for some time. The Corewards periphery seems to have been plagued with pirates recently and many travellers would welcome a break from attacks.

MEK incursion into Corewards

The FET and GTT have mounted a joint venture into Nog-Kesri to tackle a MEK force. It isn't known where they have come from, with the only other MEK ships seen so far being located in the Orion Spur. The lack of a known link between where they have appeared in Corewards and the Orion Spur has caused some concern among planetary populations as who knows where they could turn up next! Fortunately the combined FET/GTT task force dealt the MEK a heavy blow and the threat has been eradicated. But we all know this is unlikely to be the last we hear of the MEK in Corwards and we would encourage ship captains to keep a keen eye on thier sensor screens when travelling near Nog-Kesri.

    Aladdin faces ongoing DNA/GTT tension

The tensions between the DNA and GTT in the Coptuv system recently spilled over into the DNA system of Aladdin. A significant party of GTT ground troops has reinforced one of their bases in the system and claimed it, forcing the system claim into turmoil as the DNA finds itself under threat of losing the system. With the DNA chairman asking for help, several affiliations have been seen sending ships to evacuate any in the local population that want to escape the GTT. But so far not a shot has been fired and despite the AFT, FEL and DTR assistance no reisistance to the claim jump has been encountered so far. It remains to be seen if the DNA and it's friends will scatter before this hostile take over or put in a last minute counter claim to thwart GTT intentions.

    Increasing pirate activity

Recent reports indicate a new surge in pirate attacks with the AFT and GTT reporting ships lost. Knowing how some don't like to advertise losses we wouldn't be surprised if this is the tip of the iceberg. Reports passed to us show the ship PIR Scavenger running ID 43174 and another ship of the same name running ID 68668 have both been in action with successful boarding attempts. It's unknown whether these are seperate ships or the same ship reregistered, but our information suggests that it would be hard for these pirates to cover the space where these attacks happened with just one ship. One thing is for sure, be on your guard as open space is not as safe as it once was.

GCE ships loitering in deep space

After the fall of the GCE and a lot of their assets being shared or purchased it was thought that the affiliation was no more. Yet deep space scans indicate that there is still a significant number of GCE warships holding station in deep space between Coptuv and Yank on the transport route into the Corwards Arm. Nobody knows what these ships are up to and why they are still flagged GCE, but our best guess is that are captains either awaiting new orders or owners after the fall of the GCE command structure.

    Tension in the Corewards Arm

With the DNA obtaining several ex-GCE bases in the Coreward Arm it has found itself in the middle of an asset grab of serious proportions and aggression. Our reporters witnessed several GTT troop carriers heading for the Corewards system as the DNA published information suggesting they were accidental owners of the system and that the assets were to be moved on. As the GTT ships started to arrive the bases were quickly passed to the CIA, thus thwarting the GTT intentions as they were hardly likely to start dropping troops on their allies bases. This shrew move by the DNA seems to have calmed matters in the Coreward arm temporarily, although the shift in relations between the GTT and DNA has taken a negative turn. When asked what their next move might be the GTT refused to comment.

    GCE collapse

The GCE are no more, save for some scattered light freighters. The affiliation which enjoyed a sharp rise and profiltable relations with many has ceased trading. Rumors point to the GTT buying up GCE assets before stripping the rival corporation of anything of value. Although our reporters at the SSS have been quick to point out that any GCE assets not in GTT systems have been taken over by both the DNA and FET. So it seems many different affiliations were able to profit from this development including a new group called the HSH who appear to have taken over the GCE war fleet. No doubt many in the peripheries will be watching with interest where these ships are used, who the HSH are and how they were able to get thier hands on so many warships so quickly.

    Secudus trials

In the Cluster Secudus has continued his trials, claiming to root out terrorists working against the Empire. With tends of thousands of beings being sent to the camps or worse. There is no sign of these actions stopping as the NHS clamp down on the locals and bring them under the harsh control of the Empire.

    Persistent Browser-Based Game (PBBG)

I’ve played on and off for approximately 10 years, over a 20 year spell. After some interesting debate on the in-game forum, I did wonder what, exactly, has kept drawing me back to the game, when for so many others I’ve generally lost interest after a few months.

Ultimately, I think it is a combination of automation (that allows the game to handle thousands of positions to interact on a daily basis) coupled with Special Actions (that allow the story arc to develop in a way that could not be catered for by a set of predefined list of available orders).
