Flagritz Win Military Victories

Flagritz military forces appear to have finally gained the initiative in their long-running war against the Consortium, with reports of not one but two significant victories, one on the ground, and the other in space.
On the ground it is understood a large Falconian assault force moved to assault a Flagritz Starbase. The FCN were heavily supported by over 29,000 locals who rose to form a militia and followed the FCN forces, lead in person by Praetor Nurgle – the leader of the Falconian military – into battle.
Unfortunately it seems as if the Falconians had badly underestimated the strength of the Flagritz defenders, and they took very serious casualties in two days of battle before they attempted to disengage.
It is understood the civilian militia took particularly heavy casualties. Leading to Flagritz claims that the Falconians had herded the militia onto their guns in an attempt to soak up damage from the more valuable Falconian formations following up. The FCN have angrily denied this claim however, releasing the following information from a planetary survey:

“The native population moved from the slave pens and are now sheltered in
ghettoes and slums and while there is some money this is restricted to a
very few people who have access to the luxuries left behind by the Flagritz."

Indicating that they were happy to fight and die for a chance to strike back against the FLZ.
During the retreat phase, the Falconians took even more heavy damage as artillery located at the base drove into pre-prepared firing positions and opened up, destroying several Falconian ground parties and massacring a group of reinforcements who were en-route to the battle.
It is unknown if Nurgle escaped with his life. Perhaps illustrating why it is so unusual to see Politicals on the front-lines. However, we at the IGN newsroom salute him for his bravery.
The second FLZ victory came in orbit once the remains of the Falconian ground party had been destroyed, when they struck with heavy force at the Consortium orbital blockade.
Over 100 Flagritz capital ships engaged around 30 FEL/SMS and FCN warships, destroying a squadron of SMS Heavy Cruisers and almost a dozen Felini vessels, including several heavy capital ships.
Had the Flagritz remained for a second day of battle it seems certain the Consortium losses would have been even more severe, as many of their ships were very badly mauled and on the verge of destruction. As it was, the SMS were able to inflict some light damage against the FLZ strike force as they withdrew. Leaving the Consortium to rush in re-enforcements and recover crews and equipment from the burning shattered hulks.

Consortium Response
An un-named consortium spokes-person has responded to news of the recent Flagritz military successes with the following statement:
“The posturings of the Flagritzi are nothing more than empty rhetoric of a failing empire, one which grasps at the straw of minor tactical victories to spin empty propaganda, in the face of continued strategic collapse. The liberation of the Zephyr system has not been halted, the salvation of there slave worlds has not been stopped and the wheels of there defeat still turn. We do not claim to win every battle, we do not pretend the vile Flagritzi are with out skill on the field of war. But the liberating armies of the Consortium still advance, inch by inch, mile by mile, system by bloody system. The Siege of Xeno Zephyr continues, thought we did not take it by storm today, then tomorrow or the next.”

IGN Offices Ransacked
The offices of the galaxies finest news agency, the IGN, have been ransacked by pirates who stole equipment and broadcast their own edition of the week’s news over the Sub Space Static last week.
Fearless IGN reporters are now composing this weeks edition from a ramshackle office somewhere in the sewers of a Starbase somewhere in Yank – the location of which cannot at this time be revealed due to the ongoing threat of piracy.
Our dedicated team of professionals is committed to the idea of bringing our readers all of the news that matters, whilst also not getting their throats cut by criminal scum.
Alien brain parasites may have had some role in this attack.
The Mohache have suspiciously made no comment.

Trouble For the EEM
The peripheries governing financial body, the EEM, are coming under increasing pressure from both the RIP and the DTR. The RIP issued the following statement:
“The EEM's inability to sensibly evaluate ships and other constructions is worrying for an organisation supposedly running our credit system.
Their inability to keep their starbases in the black and able to afford the goods they request on their markets is a further concern. If they can't control their own finances then how can we trust them with ours.
I recommend they open a committee to sort out their many flaws.
Failure to do so may result in myself, and any others I can convince to, boycotting the use of credit backed by this so called economic group.”
With further trouble appearing when the DTR foreign minister drew attention to the EEMs practice of allowing ship registration numbers and designations to be changed in deep space on a whim – a practice that is allowing a great deal of freedom to pirates to get away with their crimes – apparently with the blessing of the EEM.

Pirate Destroyed
A pirate ground party has been destroyed whilst attempting to close with the SMS Starbase Convallis.

Pirate Destroyed
And the SMS have also destroyed a small pirate scout ship with their platform Station Medusa in the Inferno system.

RIP Secure Contract
The RIP have announced they have secured a major ship-building contract from the Falconian House Peacock to supply and outfit an undisclosed number of anti-piracy warships, understood to be based on the Nemesis 100HH battleship class.

AFT Shares Value Crashes
Shares in the Association of Free Traders have dipped this week following this news story that ran on the RIP News Network:
“For a long time the Solo system, run by the AFT, was the public trading centre of the galaxy. However in the last few weeks we've seen a shift of trade routes towards the FCN Acropolis.
As it stands today there are more potential public trades from and to the Acropolis system than any other. Seems the AFT have some work to do to catch up.”
In conjunction with this, the recent appearance of a pirate scout ship in the orbital quadrant of the Falconians main Starbase in Acropolis saw its presence being reported to the authorities by not 1 but 5 visiting affiliations. Further underlining the fact that Acropolis is now the main trading hub in the Peripheries. With Yank itself rapidly acquiring the reputation of being a backwater, along with Solo.

Public Service Announcement
From the FCN press office:
“Would IND captains be aware that they are NOT welcome in Acropolis. Sadly today one of our platforms were forced to destroy a small IND vessel. This is especially sad given the owner may be the same one whose ship we destroyed (and replaced) when it landed at our base in Yank.
We are NOT friendly to IND traders I'm afraid. Too many of them have turned out to be pirates, working with pirates or working with enemies of the Republic in the past.
The system message clearly states you are not welcome. All our platforms, system patrols and bases have IND on their enemies list in Acropolis and on the ground enemy list outside.”

RIP Claim Yank
The RIP have submitted a system claim for control of the Yank system. A contact within the Kastorian Military junta forwarded us a copy of the RIPs claim form:
“System Claim : Yank : AMWEDG
The RIP are being forced to support a system claim for the Yank system by the
AMWEDG (Above Minimum Wage Earning Dancing Girls).
This union of Jiggly dancers, bar staff and err 'masseurs' are holding the
management of the Jiggly Room hostage* until this claim is demonstrated to
be supported by the RIP senior personnel.
Therefore this system claim should be considered official RIP policy...
but not straight away... give me a couple of hours to be held hostage first...
it's not as bad as it sounds!
RIP GT Spugman vpd

* This service is also available on demand... 10 stellars gets you half hour** as a
hostage!
** I can assure you that it is worth every penny!”

Given we now understand the KAS are preparing a military response to the RIPs claim, we can assume that the famed Kastorian lack of anything remotely resembling a sense of humour is still very much the case.

IDC Press Release
“Greetings All
It is with great pleasure that I can now introduce our new organisation, the Interstellar Development Company (IDC).
Specialising in planetary development and colonisation, our core services are:
Colonisation and population development
Urbanisation and infrastructure
Terraforming and atmospheric modification
Also available is an exploration and investigation service that can be incorporated into any of the above projects or indeed called upon on an ad-hoc basis.

Rest assured that we have no intention to stake claims on systems or planetary bodies but rather act as contractors on your behalf. The IDC are a peaceful company maintaining a small security fleet for escort and protection duties only.
If you wish to discuss a suitable project that you feel we may be of assistance with please get in touch.
In the meantime our merchant fleet will continue to ply it's trade with Starbases throughout the peripheries and I hope all affiliations will be so kind as to extend permission for the IDC to move peacefully throughout their systems.
Please note that we are still in the early days of our development so while our resources and manpower are limited, they are growing slowly, and we will give our clients our utmost attention with all resources we can bring to bear on their behalf.
Maximillian Price

Ships previously prefixed with IHS are now in the process of being renamed but there may be a few weeks lag as the fleet is reassigned new company duties.”

Yank Firestorm

Following weeks of heavy and sustained bombardment, it is understood the pirate facility located on Mobile Bay has finally been destroyed by the Dewiek.

Acrux Falls

The Dewiek outpost Impervious has fallen to a Meklan assault. Reports indicate that the inhuman and unstoppable Meklan swarmed over the defenders, outnumbering then 28 to 1.
With Impervious falling, the system claim for the Acrux system has also been lost, as the entire system seems to have fallen into the hands of the Meklan. It is unknown what they intend to do, but whatever it is, it surely cannot be good.
Scattered reports broadcast over the Subspace from inside the Acrux system seem to indicate the civilian population centres are in a state of panic, as they desperately attempt to flee Meklan patrols. One report suggests the Meklan may even be rounding up civilians and transporting them away.

Pirate Large Retires?
A surprisingly announcement from Pirate Large this week, with the foul leprous villain apparently announcing his intention to retire:
“Ahhhaarrggghhhh me hearties............ It Be Aye.................
Pirate Large.............
I is tellin yee all aye that me time has come to hang up me eye patch an wooden leg and take a long term vacation from this ere life aye.
Anyway i am pleased that Piracy has got going and there are other people getting stuck in.
I did think about attacking people on the ground, which i could easily have done, i have found many weak targets, but i dont really need to take out the GCS, or take a MOH base its not quite the same as attacking a major faction.
I will be giving away some assets to a couple of other pirate groups who are starting up.
Could Shaka let me know if he is still out there pirating as i will also help him out like i already have done.
Thanks for the good times
Pirate Large”

Pirates Destroyed
A pirate flotilla has been destroyed in orbit of Manger in the Madonna system by a combined Imperial-bloc strike group. It is understood more than six pirate freighters of various common designs were destroyed, with no casualties reported amongst the intercepting forces, along with a small pirate scout ship elsewhere in the system.
In a curious twist, the freighters were previously flagged as belonging to the Falconian Republic, and their becoming pirates has raised questions regarding who was operating them.
In related news the Falconian Consul Darius Shiraz has declared that Lord Sathak of the Falconian House Sathak, whose ships these were, is charged with dereliction of duty at a time of war, collaboration with pirates, loss and theft of republic assets, and espionage, and he is wanted for what we might optimistically refer to as ‘questioning’.

Falconian Military In Crisis
Praetor Nurgle of the House Vulture, the head of the Falconian military, has disappeared. Leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest for dereliction of duty at a time of war, as well as inadequate care of native militias leading to their deaths during recent military action.
Nurgle was last seen leading the failed ground assault against Flagritz installations during which battle many tens of thousands of badly trained and ill equipped native militias were slaughtered by the FLZ defensive structures.
It is thought Nurgle may have died in battle, but his body has not yet been paraded by the victorious Flagritz, so he may have engineered an escape from the planet surface.

Pirates Destroyed
The GTT are reporting the destruction of two pirate scouts and a ground party in the Wastelands system. By the names of the vessels involved, it would appear they belonged to pirate Large.

Wolfpack
The Wolfpack pirates have captured another undefended FET ship, the Old Moss, a deep explorer class sensor ship.

More Trouble For the FCN
Damage control around the newly born Falconian Republic this week as more bad news mounts up for them. A significant friendly fire incident has been reported, during which several FCN ships are understood to have fired upon each other.
Reports are however confused and contradictory, but the words ‘civil war’ have been whispered.

War Declared
The DEN have declared war against the TCA, MEK and ARC.

IND Destroyed
The Independent vessel ZZ Chastity has been destroyed by a GTT patrol in Capella by accident. The incident is being chalked up to an over-eager GTT commander, and reparations have been paid. Though the families of the crew killed onboard the Chastity are demanding harsher action be taken against the GTT.
This incident serves to illustrate just how unkind a universe it is out there for independents.

Trouble For The EEM
There has been no official response from the EEM with regards to last weeks call for a vote of no confidence. With anger mounting, it remains to be seen how long the EEM will stay quiet for. Though it has to be said, the secretive organisation hardly has a record of commenting to the press.

Natives Attack Imperial Starbase
From the Imperial news wire:
“A suprise attack by 20,000 screaming savages on IMP Starbase Frontier Trade in the Ialandian system brought the hitherto friendly relations with the locals on Ianan to an abrupt close as the attackers died. Communications with the planetary hierarchy indicates that they want our starbase as a starting point to conquering all known space. Since there are millions of them there is a possibility they might get the starbase if they sacrifice enough of their fellow natives. As the brief description of the Ialandians below suggests, they might well be prepared to do just that.

Report from Ianan:-

The governor is certain that there is infighting and factionalism within the Ialandian society. The lack of animals means that they use their own people as beasts instead. They breed them for meat, cull them, send them in as cannon fodder and force them endure appalling conditions.
The problem however is that they have less regard for aliens than they do their own species. Explaining that cannibalism is bad simply won't stand up to any arguments. It is much better to have intelligent livestock - they are so much easier to condition and can even work their own yeast vats, clean their own stalls and follow directions to the slaughter halls.”
Further information received by our newsroom suggests the Ialandians have attempted to launch sneak attacks against the Imperial installations by raising the skull and crossbones and pretending to be pirates, in a desperate attempt to sneak closer to the defences, presumably under the false assumption that pirates might be more welcome at the gates than a horde of hungry angry cannibals.

Unsurprisingly their plan did not work.
The Ialandians continue to demand the Imperial services vacate their homeworld immediately, as they are not welcome there anymore.

Pirate Destroyed
The pirate vessel point Break, a sentry class interceptor, has been destroyed by a FCN patrol in the inner reaches of the long pirate-haunted Storm system.

Pirate Destroyed
The pirate vessel Beast Of Burden has been intercepted and destroyed by a squadron of SMS vessels in the Titan system. Unusually the Beast Of Burden was a Tempest class freighter of 100 hulls in size, sparking speculation that its presence in the outer reaches of a normally quiet system might suggest that it was up to something suspicious.

Vessel Destroyed
A small Falconian scout ship has been destroyed in the Twilight periphery by superior FLZ naval forces.

DTR Vessel destroyed
The DTR freighter Coronado has been destroyed whilst attempting to trade with an Imperial facility in the Dryad system. An over-zealous imperial platform commander is understood to have not properly cleared the orders of the day to allow the Detinus vessel safe passage.

Success For The Felini
A small 3 ship FEL patrol has successfully intercepted and destroyed a lone Flagritz cruiser in the Crusade system.

Bombardment
The long running bombardment of the Flagritz Starbase Xeno Zephyr by the Falconian platform Infestation has continued again this week, with no end in sight. The FCN platform continues to inflict moderate damage on the FLZ base.

Krell
The FCN have released the following press release:
”A remnant of the failed Krell autocracy was captured on Inversion, in Storm system by Falconian Republic forces, assisted by GTT warships.

FCN Under Siege

The Falconian Republic has come under heavy attack as multiple pirate assault forces captured 10 FCN outposts across the surface of their homeworld in Acropolis.
The shock attack saw the pirates somehow sneak past all of the orbital defences and land unseen across the surface of the planet, whereupon they quickly closed with their targets and overwhelmed the lax and unsuspecting FCN security forces.
In what is thought to have been an orchestrated action, all of the FCN outposts suddenly were flying Pirate flags, at which point orbital defence forces suddenly noticed something was wrong and opened fire against the recently captured outposts. Not to be outdone, Falconian Starbase governors issued orders to fire as well, and a veritable firestorm was unleashed, obliterating the outposts and killing everybody within half a mile of each.
It is unknown if the pirate assault forces were caught in this bombardment, or if they had managed to sneak away just before the firing started leaving the captured employees to be killed along with the outposts.
The attack was carried out with military precision by the Wolfpack pirates, provoking instant speculation regarding who had paid him to attack the Falconians on their homeworld. The most likely candidate at this time is the Flagritz Empire, though other possibilities are still on the table.
The operation has been a stark reminder that even the most secure locations are still vulnerable to a determined and well equipped attacker.

FLZ Under Siege
The ongoing orbital bombardment of the FLZ Starbase Xeno Zephyr has entered a new phase as a series of stunning agent actions throughout the base has seen its shield complexes all shut down, co-inciding with a significant increase in Consortium orbital bombardment.
Panicked mercenaries, employees and civilians have been seen by IGN reporters fleeing the Starbase as the shields flickered out and the orbital bombardment started to intensify.
Reports are at this time confused, but it seems as if heavy damage is beginning to be inflicted against the FLZ defenders as their technicians frantically scramble to bring the facility shields back up online, though with the FLZ security forces reportedly being simply not up to the job, we have heard reports that several technical crews have been ambushed and killed by Commandos of the FCN Intelligence Service who were lying in wait to sabotage any attempt to bring the shields back up.
There have also been reports of several small explosions throughout the secure and heavily armoured arsenals of the Starbase. The explosions have apparently come from inside the facilities, and are not the result of orbital bombardment.
Unconfirmed rumours around the SMS fleet command overheard by one of our reporters suggest that this operation has been given the codename ‘Deathblow’, which does not bode well for the future of Xeno Zephyr.
Several protests amongst the civilians of the planet have been noted, calling on the Consortium to not inflict unnecessary casualties amongst the innocent population who live nearby the Starbase, and instead to capture it on the ground. The Consortium have responded by encouraging people to flee the battlefield.

Ialandians Attack
The imperial news wire is carrying the following story:
“The Ialandians launched a second massive ground attack against IMP Frontier Trade this week. The attack involved some 42,000 Ialandian troops supported by over 22,000 light tanks. They also used a huge number of Ialandian civilians as a living shield to cover their attack, as a result of this nearly a quarter of a million civilians died before the Ialandian military were completely destroyed. Imperial casualties were around 1000 troops with over 3500 assorted tanks and several hundred robot defence bunkers being destroyed.
Now consideration is being given to how to look after the large number of captured civilian survivors. Since they seem to want to eat anyone who comes in range of their teeth this is proving to be no minor problem.”

The Unfortunate Case Of Lester Casey
A candlelit vigil is being held tonight as the friends and family of GTT freighter captain Lester Casey attempt to apply pressure on his employers to pay the ransom demanded by the pirate Black Dog for his safe return.
The official GTT response remains the same as that of most Periphery governments – that they will not negotiate with pirates – however, a few sad and forlorn messages from Lester are being broadcast on subspace, as the pirates attempt to inflict as much suffering as possible. And indeed it now seems likely that Lesters execution might be broadcast live.

War Declared!
The IMP and GTT have declared war against the ISP on the planet Ialandian. The IMP in response to native aggression, and the GTT in support of their allies in accordance with their treaty.
With two superpowers now arrayed against the ISP, it seems it might be good feedin’ time for the Ialandian cannibals.
IMP News

From the Imperial newswire:
“I would remind the owner of the following ship that Misre is an Imperial claimed system and that exploration is contrary to Imperial law. This ship, in a planetary orbit, is considered unlikely to be either trading or in transit. It is hereby banned from Imperial Systems and would be well advised to move as soon as the TUs are available.

Pirate Destroyed
The Pirate vessel Goldfinger, a yacht class scoutship, has been destroyed by the DTR outpost Bunker Defence in orbit of Gettysberg in Yank.

Skirmish in Storm
Somebody got shot in Storm. Though nobody seems to be very clear on who, or why, or how. But they were probably Krell. So, that probably explains it.

Pirate Destroyed
Another pirate scout has been destroyed in Acropolis by elements of the FCN system patrol fleets.

Pirates In Wasteland
Several unconfirmed reports have placed multiple pirate vessels gathering in the Wastelands system. All travellers are advised to exercise utmost caution.

Unfortunately for them there incursion ran straight into a platform and its pair of supporting warships under the command of Pride Motnahp
The end result was the FLZ raiders routed, three gunboats destroyed, others damaged to varying degrees and no damage to FEL forces.

Krell Rumours
Stories that have been circulating for the last month or so suggest that a new leader may have risen amongst the Krell, and that this leader may have the backing of a major periphery power, sparking yet more speculation as to exactly why so many periphery powers have gotten involved in the politics of the misbegotten Storm system.

Pirates Thwarted

A pirate ground assault against a FCN outpost in the Storm system has been thwarted when it was spotted by orbiting warships. The Pirate force Ryan’s Troopers was obliterated in short order as it attempted to close with the outpost.

GTT In Chaos

A devastating crisis has hit the boardroom of the GTT this week as Chairman Roland, leader of the GTT, was implicated in providing support to the Wolfpack pirates.
The storm broke with the publishing of the following investigation by renowned pirate hunter Mike Storm:
“The Power Behind The Wolfpack.
It's been some time, but it looks as if my services are to prove valuable once again...

Today (9.1.209) a new design of Wolfpack ship was seen.
Of interest was its class. A "Wolf class capital ship" 170 Heavy Hulls in size.
Now it's time to post what I know. I apologise in advance to innocent parties whose bases I have been having a poke about in with my operatives. You see, I heard that Pirate Large was running new ships of a large design. (No pun intended)
So to me it was sensible to drop some operatives in bases that were likely to have the technology to make the blueprints for such a ship.

The base GTT HQ is working on a BP = Wolf (27914). It is run by Roland the GTT PD.

The number of the project for the Wolf BP makes it highly likely that it is a ship BP. The Wolf BP has been in progress for several weeks according to my operative, or multiple copies are being made. If they are still under construction after we have seen a ship then a reasonable number are being supplied!
To me that makes it highly likely that the GTT PD has been supplying high level tech to the pirate.
Of course, there are some assumptions made here, but as I said before it does not make sense for the GTT to be doing a BP called "Wolf".
I no longer have any power in the Imperial bloc, but my advice would be for the GTT board to seize control of the base GTT HQ and find out what those Wolf BPs are for. If they are for a 170HH ship then Roland will have little defence.
Mike Storm
Pirate Hunter.

The announcement sent periphery governments into a scramble as they prepared their responses, but the GTT board reacted swiftly to move to suspend and arrest Roland, with Xavier Fox taking over as PD and immediately seizing all assets of the disgraced former leader. He then appeared in front of the Peripheries press with the following statement:
“Following the revelations of Mike Storm, our PD Roland was summoned before the board and informed the GTT directors of what he had done. The directors were extremely unhappy with his actions and a vote was immediately taken for Roland to be removed from the board. This was a unanimous decision.
Roland has been stripped of his directorship and all assets of the GTT corporation. He no longer acts for the GTT. Roland is currently waiting for a transport to his trial where he will answer for his alleged crimes. A trial that I personally would like to see organised by the leaders of the three main Commonwealth affiliations.
The directors hope that this swift action will send a clear message to all other affiliations that the GTT do not condone or deal with pirates. We take all serious accusations of such activities very seriously indeed.
The GTT will shortly be holding a boardroom meeting to elect a new PD.
This will be followed by a busy period as all of Roland’s assets are redistributed to other members of the corporation, and I'd like to ask everyone to bear with us while this is undertaken as it is a lot of work for my office.
I trust that the corporation has sent a strong message to their trading partners and allies about where they stand on the topic of pirates.”

It must be said that for some time now all of the evidence has pointed towards the Wolfpack being heavily supplied and supported by the GTT, and although he denies it strenuously, most observers suspect Roland of doing more than just supplying Blueprints, with some rumours circulating that Roland may even be the Wolfpack manager himself.

RIP Deny Involvement

With pressure mounting on them for their involvement in supplying support to the Wolfpack, the RIP have taken the extraordinary step of broadcasting what they allege to be some DTR Senate Accords. The full story as taken from the RIP News Network is here:
“The Liberal Detinus Media have leaked proceedings from a recent session of the DTR senate in which the speaker laid out the basis for the imperialist aggression threatened against the RIP this week. RIP research teams have revealed the so called dossier was extensively 'sexed-up' by DTR spin doctors, and that several claims were extracted from a What I Did On My Holidays report by a student at the Lysander School of Performing Arts in DTR Porta Capella. The entire document can be found in the RIP archives
As the dossier sets out, we estimate on the basis of the EEM's work that there were: up to 360 cages of parrots; up to 3,000 peg legs; eye patches sufficient to cover 7000 pirates; and over 30,000 jolly rodgers and hundreds of pirate copies of The Pirate King's video guide to Piracy.
We strongly deny these accusations, particularly with reference to the work of The Pirate King, of which the sole original copy is stored for historical reference at a secured location in the True One studies annex at the Jiggly Rooms.
It concludes that the RIP has salty, foul mouthed, copyright infringing pirates, that Bob Kurosawa has continued to recruit them, that he has existing and active military plans for the use of said pirates, who could be sobered up within 45 minutes, including against his supposed SMS allies; and that he is actively trying to acquire substatianial booty.
These spurious accusations not only have no basis in reality, but also defy widely accepted analysis of Pirate Large's capabilities, which suggest no pirate can be sobered up within less than 24 hours.
Again key personnel who used to work on the pirate programme are back in harness. the RIP may claim that this is for a civil theme park ride and movie tie in but it has neither rollercoasters or other attractions.
Any piratical activities that may appear to be associated with the law abiding members of the RIP are indeed for a major coming attraction to a RIP starbase near you, which will feature a spellbinding ride through the swashbuckling world of the wacky Dog Pack pirates and their screwball leader Charcoal Chihuahua.”
The DTR have denied the veracity of these supposedly leaked documents, and claim that the RIP have falsified them. A claim which appears to be the case, given the DTRs tedious live coverage of all Senate Proceedings that they insist on broadcasting to as much of the known universe as possible. Not to mention the edited highlights of committee meetings that make up at least 23% of the ‘popular’ trade good Detinus Media.

DTR Deny War Claims
An unnamed source within the DTR has absolutely denied rumours that the Detinus Senate is on the verge of declaring the RIP a Pirate Affiliation, and taking all reasonable measures to shut them down.

Pirate Attack
A pirate has attempted to board an Imperial vessel in the Dorn system this week. Reports indicate the pirate was too slow to close with the freighter, which flew away mocking the incompetence of the pirates.

Xeno Zephyr
The Consortium bombardment of the FLZ base Xeno Zephyr has continued all week, with moderate damage being reported from the FCN platform and squadron in orbit.

The FCN Consus Darius Shirazi has issued the following press release:

“To the Flagritz Command:
Your base is now completely unprotected and under heavy bombardment by Consortium forces.
I make a heartfelt plea to you: Spare the lives of your own forces and those natives whom you have enslaved.
Hand over the base and we will repatriate every single Flagritz on the base to you. Your time in this system is over. We will give the native slaves freedom... even if it is in death. Their brothers on the planet will not suffer under your evil regime any longer and their sacrifice will be honoured.
This offer expires in a week or upon the complete destruction of your base, whichever comes first.”

The Flagritz have responded in typically Flagritz fashion:

[b]Wolfpack

The Wolfpack pirates have responded to the recent crisis by boasting that they already have significant production facilities for their 170 HH warship – a development that poses a real and present danger to pretty much everybody. Making it even more important that periphery governments do more to root out and destroy anybody and everybody who is providing support and supply to these well organised and blood thirsty pirate groups.

IMP-Bloc Offensive
The Imperial-Bloc navies numbering some several hundred GTT and IMP warships have struck at the ISP under the command of the convivial cannibal Necros, who agreed to be interviewed by the press:
“In typical IMP/GTT genocidal mania, they fulfil all expectations and predictions of blundering in like a drunken buffalo to over kill anyone that is small and defenseless. It is particularly humorous that they would do it the day after FOX wondered why we wanted independent observers and GREGOR was "thrilled" with our peaceful overtures.
The simple fact is that it is cheaper and easier for the Genocidal maniacs to slaughter us with such overkill as to be absurd. This is the reason they don't NEED to negotiate. They show their real colors when they have the military advantage....unlawful slaughter.
This is the universe the rest of the peripheries are letting come to pass. Pretend that the Pirate Large fiasco doesn't matter. Pretend that the IMP and GTT are not totally corrupt. Pretend that there is some reasonable rule of law in the peripheries....there isn't. There is only overkill of the defenceless.”
From Imperial sources it is understood they were moving against a 29,000 hull ISP platform that had recently opened fire against IMP freighter traffic to and from Ialandian. Though it seems as if the platform was under-armed and under-staffed, as from what we hear it wasn’t much of a battle.

FEL Press Release
This is an official Felini notice, just to confirm what has been publically stated before on several occasions, for the avoidance of doubt:
Please be reminded that the Battlefield system is restricted. Very few affs have the right of access (they know who they are), and none outside the Consortium have the rights of exploration, exploitation or use of the system for the purposes of transit to another system. Deadly force is authorised for use against trespassers and no recompense will be considered.
Office of the Tyrant

Lester Saved
Stranded GTT prisoner Lester has been saved from the clutches of the pirates thanks to Baron Liquan, who posted the following notice:
“Lester is not dead and will soon be in the safe hands of HLQ. Where we will
return him to his family and the GTT.
I believe GTT hard line with pirates is so they are not blackmailed into
ransoming the personel.
20,000 stellars is alot of money and will encoruge other attacks on there
assetts if they pay up.
Not a bad policy, but one I disagree with.
Pirate large and Wolpack have both chirped up about having officers and
wanting HLQ tp purchase them back.
I will see what can be done, but unfortunately our funds are not limitness.
I will post more when Lester is safely in our hands.
Our reward will be the relief on Lester face has he is back with his family.
Baron LiQuan”

Escape!

Reports indicate that the disgraced chairman of the GTT Board, Roland, has escaped from custody and disappeared along with a substantial quantity of stolen goods and munitions. Including a large stockpile of nuclear weapons.
It is not known how Roland managed to escape GTT security forces, but a transmission from Roland seems to indicate he had laid preparations in case he was ever forced to flee, and has rallied troops and positions that owe their loyalty more to him than to the GTT, and that a sizeable portion of the GTT military has disappeared along with him.
All of this adds up to yet more bad news for the GTT, with stories flying about how yet another high profile Imperial-Bloc political figure has been involved in large-scale piracy, but managed to escape scot-free.
Our reporters tried to contact Emperor Lysander for comment, but his press officer informed us the Emperor was busy.
Roland is understood to have fled to a prepared bunker somewhere in the Yank system, but with the GTT hot on his heels, it seems likely that he has already moved on to another even more secure location.

Assassination!
Rumours at the beginning of the week began circulating that the new chairman of the GTT Board Xavier Fox had been assassinated on the orders of the outgoing chairman Roland.
However once the GTT security clampdown had been relaxed, the news trickled out that it was in fact Xavier Fox’s brother Marcus who had been assassinated, in what is almost certainly a case of mistaken identity. Meaning Xavier had a very close escape and Roland’s assassins were hunting the wrong Fox.
Security throughout the GTT has been reportedly increased, with the members of the GTT board moved into hiding as they continue rooting out those forces still loyal to the departed chairman.

Pirate Destroyed
The Iron Breth'ren is proud to announce that today Our platform Iron Killerbee took out one of Wolfpack's scout ships in Erasure. The scout ship, PIR Ghost of Erasure, has been seen twice before over Mistake in Erasure; part of a regular scouting run apparently. This time We were ready for him! We are pleased to note that We even beat out the orbiting IMP patrol squad by destroying the target on Round 0. There'll be some extra honeycomb in those bugs' evening rations!

GTT Appoint Commission
The GTT Chairman Xavier Fox has appointed a neutral third party to investigate the extent to which the Wolfpack have infiltrated the GTT. His office released the following statement to the press:
“I have for some days been looking for a neutral party to look into the claims by Wolfpack, with the hope that relations between the GTT and FCN can be amicably settled.
Finding an independent person is not always easy, but Baron Vehrenberg has very kindly offered his services today.
As a man outside the Imperial Bloc and Consortium I think he would make an excellent choice and nobody else has come forward.
I therefore request that Wolfpack provides any proof he claims to have to Baron Vehrenberg (Naz Kodrix on nexus) so the matter can be looked into.”

Wolf Strikes Back At Bugs
From Wolfpacks blog:
“Ship full of bugs taken, no escorts, no problem.

Round 2: Battle is 445:2 in favour of Attacker
Defender lost 24.49% control [51.22%]

OPS Anna Bragroo (30803) has fallen to the attackers.

no cool tech or bits inside but a good poplar ship design to sell.”

Though one larger pirate boarder was able to escape.
In related news a RIP freighter was spotted in orbit of the same asteroid a few days before the assault, leading to reports that they were either working with the Wolfpack, or alternatively tipped off the Wolfpack to their presence there.

Wolfpack Gets The Big Guns
An imperial freighter carrying 180 pieces of Mk2 Artillery have been captured by the Wolfpack in the outer reaches of the Misre system.

Pirate Destroyed
The pirate Caravel Bordello Girl has been intercepted and destroyed by an Imperial and FET patrol in the outer reaches of the Fortoon system.

Al Bundy Declares War
In what must rank as one of the more entertaining suicide bids in recent history, Al Bundy has continued declaring war against the GTT, having made the following transmission:
“Since no one else has the guts to take the credit, I will. Yes, it was I, AL BUNDY, who somehow delicately balanced, orchestrated and carried out (and all at the same time), the following:
1. Escaping the wife. (full time job)
2. Running a small starbase in Yank.
3. Managing the Jiggley Room when Spugman is out of town.
4. Keeping up reading all the cards and letters from guys all over the galaxy, that hate their wives.
5. Running a husband sanctuary.
6. Carrying on a war against the Mighty GTT from 600 feet below ground.
7. And between all of that, I somehow have the time to steal a few politicals and run operatives all over IMP space. Yet somehow I go on. I need an extention cord, in case anybody cares. The beer cooler went out over the week end.
Well boys and girls, It was me who ran two different high ranking GTT officials away. No doubt I will be blamed for "assassinating" Marcus, who in his behalf, at least could hold his liquor. I am hereby DEMANDING THE ABSOULUTE UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER OF THE GTT.

Awaiting GTT officials answer: Except...........the GTT has no leadership now.
(Marcus Fox to be charged post mortum for aleged war crimes)
Al "Mothers, don't let your babys grow up to become husbands" Bundy.”
Fortunately for Al his claims to taking responsibility for the assassinations are not… how to put this mildy… widely believed.
However, we applaud Al’s efforts to get the Jiggley Room blown up from orbit.

Ialandia
Our newsroom has received a transmission from the surface of the Ialandian homeworld. The transmission was garbled, and required a fair amount of cleaning up by our technical staff, but we have managed to glean the following:
“Flashes light the sky of the Ialandian homeworld, these invaders are different, yet their motives are the same: To rape what little is left of our burned out world.

Thousands of torpedoes and tens of thousands of missiles are launched at our nearly defenceless asteroid platforms. Necros watched in fascination at the ruthlessness of these Imperials, a small measure of envy showed on his bloodstained face....envy for the power on display.

How long can those platforms absorb such punishment, Necros wondered....certainly not more than a day or so more. The criminal invaders have even gone so far as to drop their shields and bombard our citizens from space and ground...delicious carnage.

Hmmm, it looks like one platform is heading for the planetary surface...It can't possibly make it to the IMP base...can it?
Time is running short now, even Necros shows signs of concern..."prepare a meal of my favourites but be sure to throw in a few of those hairless apes as an appetizer". Secretly, Necros has his personal slaves preparing the escape convoy....He has avoided his enemy's plate all these years, he won't be caught and eaten by some damn dirty apes.

After a good meal, Humans are bland but go well with hot sauce, he looks over the battle reports.... Hmmm, not much left to do now.... he thinks for a few seconds then casually activates his final measures...”

Ialandia Again
In the news for a second time this week, it seems that the pirate Black Dog has gained information on the location of the Ialandian system from the captured GTT captain Lester Casey, and is threatening to release the information to the public comms network unless the GTT pay a ransom to keep the navigational data secret.

Wolfpack Implicated Falconians
Scurrilous scourge of the spaceways Wolfpack has this week been releasing information alleging collusion between the Falconian Consul Darius and himself over an attempt to destabilise the GTT by removing Roland as their leader, and the further allegation that the Falconians had contracted the Wolfpack to stage a series of attacks against GTT positions.
This newsroom has seen a series of communications allegedly between Darius and the Wolfpack in which payment plans are discussed for these operations; Communications that culminate with an apparent falling out between the two parties as Darius refuses to pay, at which point Wolfpack goes public with the allegations.
However when contacted for his response, Consul Darius absolutely denied having contracted the Wolfpack, claiming Wolfpack was just trying to stir up trouble in an attempt to create a smokescreen, and went on to make the following two points:

“1) The Wolfpack has a contract on the FCN and attacked our homeworld
quite recently.
2) The FCN is fully capable of carrying out any military objective
without resorting to mercenaries.”

Our newsroom staff cannot help but to observe that given the long-standing speculation regarding the GTT being the power behind the Wolfpack, it would have been spectacularly politically naïve of the FCN to have attempted to contract the Wolfpack against the GTT.
We await with interest the response of the GTT to these allegations.

**Special Report***

*PRESS RELEASE*

Wolfpack and GTT Roland ties revealed by Falconian Security Forces.
The following dossier on GTT Roland / Wolfpack ties is presented to
the wider galactic community via the SSS.

1) Aranosis System

The Wolfpack was approached by the Consul's office with a proposition to set up an asteroid facility in the restricted Aranosis system. This was done with the blessing of SMS Fleet Command, the legal owners of the system. He was fed information about the location of some but not all known asteroids in the system.
SMS and FCN ships monitored the quads and orbits of asteroids unknown to the Wolfpack. Whilst no PIR vessels were found, a number of GTT ships with absolutely no business being where they were were noted.
This strengthened suspicions that the Wolfpack and the GTT had ties.

2) Wastelands

Roland / Wolfpack got very sloppy in the Wastelands system, probably somewhat panicked by not considering their PIR GP disembarking from a GTT ship would leave a trace on the GP's logs and claimed responsiblity for the disembarking publicly and then after a think on the part of the GTT Directors they withdrew that initial statement.
However, the timing of the attacks were too coordinated between the Wolfpack, the transfer of PIR GPs to the COH and the GTT assault on the COH base to be a mere coincidence. It left no room for a COH diplomatic response as the GPs were transferred the SAME day as the GP assault on the COH outpost.
We sadly noted that they chose to blame the whole thing on a dead man known for his antipiracy work (see below).

3) DIE Pirates

The pirates that attacked FCN outposts on Inversion and then proceeded to attack RIP outposts on Force 12 before doing a suicide run in Acropolis, were claimed by the GTT to have also attacked their outposts. However, again the transfer of PIR positions to the COH suggests the GP in question weren't active during the time claimed by the GTT to have been able to attack their outpost. Coupled with the plans they have for Inversion via a puppet KRL regime, this was seen by FCN authorities as a deliberate action to weaken FCN positions within the Storm system.

4) Masters Antipiracy operation

A coordinated attack on a Wolfpack asteroid facility in the Masters system by IMP/FET/GTT forces turns into a farce as the pirate clears out having been warned just in time of the operation. The GTT PD contacts the FCN Consul to insinuate that the AFT were behind the Wolfpack due to the presence of an AFT ship in orbit of the asteroid after the attack.
Coming within a matter of days of the GTT assembling forces to attack the AFT on behalf of the HLQ this seemed like convenient political cover, much like the attack on the COH.

5) Initial Wolfpack campaign against the AFT

It is common knowledge that only 3 affiliations had the full compliment of equipment displayed by the Wolfpack when they first started: the IMP, DTR and GTT. We also know the AFT are traditional competitors of the GTT,
something Roland has stated publicly on more than one occasion.
It has also emerged that the Wolfpack was being paid 130 stellars per complex destroyed. Few affiliations would have an interest in such a covert operation against the AFT and the means to supply advanced technologies to
achieve those objectives.

6) Lord Goth's assasination

The Wolfpack managed to kill anti-pirate crusader Lord Goth in Tau Ceti, a very restricted system, a mere week after he returned to the base from an undisclosed secure location. The base was under GTT command supervision.

7) PIR and GTT Outposts on the Same Asteroid in Curly System

The following intelligence was passed to trusted members of the Consortium, DTR, GTT and IMP:
Move to Beta 15
Entering orbit of Pi III (5049)
Scanned:
GTT OUTPOST CURLY PIE BASE (46856) - {1-1} 16 kMus
PIRATE OUTPOST CURLY III (89500) - {1-1} 9 kMus
It is our contention that the Wolfpack and Roland's ties are greater than presented. We also contend that the ransom of a limited number of crew and ships was not the motivation of researching numerous advanced warships for the pirate. Finally, the allegations against the FCN Consul is the final desperate attempt at diverting attention by an egotistical mercenary whose efforts at continued blackmail of the FCN had failed.
At this time Roland is wanted for questioning and to face justice by the Falconian Republic. We hope human governments will take equal measures to apprehend him and undo the damage he has done to law, order, peace and trade.

Darius.

Market Adjustments
There will be some minor adjustments to the Krieger markets, of which Fort Krieger is the most popular. The new trade standards going into effect have caused a complete examination of our markets and will require some adjustments in the prices we pay for trade goods. As always if someone is greatly affected please contact me via PM and I will make up any price changes for the next week or two so you won't have to turn your frieighters around if the prices are not to spec.

**From The Nexus**
A new trade system has been introduced. Details from Darak are on the Nexus, but a plain English interpretation has also been posted here:
www.kjcgames.co.uk/phoenix/nexus/index.php?a=posts&tid=14039&page=0
And reproduced below:

Edit: added merch plex info from Darak's post below

This is my take on this so far if I got anything wrong please feel free to correct it.

Planet DILLIGAF (OU812) *made up planet*
NEW TRADE VALUES -- MAX INCOME -- VALUE/MU -- LOW VAL -- HIGH VAL
Trade Goods ----------- 60000 --------- 1.25 -------- 1.5 ------ 4.5
Drugs ------------------ 4000 ---------- .9 ---------- 1.1 ------ 3.2
Lifeforms -------------- 16000 --------- .5 ----------- .9 ------ 2.5

So the potential TOTAL income of this world is 80k stellars per week. Trade goods + drugs + Life.
In an effort to simplify things I'm going to assume 1 base is on this planet and just deal with trage goods
60k potential divided between the 4 groups (low/med/high/gen). So each group has 15k stellars assigned to it. In the example above: Lowvalue = 0-1.4 Medvalue = 1.5-4.4 Highvalue = 4.5+

Let just say you have these items to work with:
Widget (9991) Local value 1
Whatchit (9992) Local value 3
Thingy (9993) Local value 5

To max out each group you would need:
15000 widgets (15000*1=15000) to max out low value
5000 Whatchits (5000*3=15000) to max out med value
3000 Thingy's (3000*5=15000) to max out high value

General can be any value lvl so you can do anything from 15k more widgets to 3k more thingy's (or any combo that adds upto 15k stellars) to get the last 15k.

Now lets say there are 3 bases on the planet. Your base would only have access to 1/3 of the planets market. If you don't sell to your max though other bases on the planet will get access to your share that week. Example: Your base runs out of Widget's (9991) and sells none for the week the other bases on the planet will each sell 2500 more this week.

"Merch complexes limit sales at 500 stellars / catagory / complex.
So 100 merch complexes allow for 50000 sales per category ~ 200k income overall."
In the example above you would need 30 Merch plexes for just the trade goods or 40 to cover trade goods, drugs and life if you are the only base. In the 1 of 3 base situation, you would only need 10 plexes to cover trade goods or 14 for all classes. If you don't have more for standard merch plex income i would suggest more to cover shortages at other bases.

That is the basics as I see it. To make it even more simple... Just load your sell to planet market with everything you can. Whatever sells sells for what it is worth. What doesn't just sits on the market for next week. No more overselling an item ruining the market for weeks.

Hope this helps some of you.

Solo claim swings back and forth

The situation in Solo appears to be getting even more heated. First the NHS dropped 600,000 troops to contest the system and then the DTR answered with enough troops of their own to trump the NHS claim. The NHS found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim up to 750,000 and once again the DTR answered, bringing Solo back under DTR control. Now the NHS have had a look down the back of the sofa and found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim to a massive 900,000 trained troops. We wait to see if the DTR have an answer to this. We can only guess where all these troops are coming from, but what is clear is that the established affiliations clearly have far larger armies than many thought.

NHS attempt to claim Solo away from DTR

In a shock move the NHS have contested the Solo claim with a huge garrison of 600,000 trained troops. In a move that nobody saw coming, especially as it was unknown the NHS had such a large force of troops to draw upon, the NHS seem to be provoking a response from the DTR. Currently there has been no word from the DTR in how they are going to deal with this claim jumping, although rumours are that they are pretending the Solo claim doesn't really matter to them and so action is unlikely. However this may be a smokescreen and we may yet see the DTR's powerful fleet cause havoc in the system of Solo, which has for a long time been an important junction and fought over by many different factions.

DNA Chairman TonTon resigns

The following communication has been leaked from the DNA to the GTT's PD.

Greetings CEO Fox.
It regrets me to have to inform to you that the DNA nation state will be renouncing its claim on Aladdin system following a ceremony planet side, shortly.
However, it gives me great pleasure to have to inform you that these ceremonies are being planned by Vladimir Tavikovitch, the South Road Traffic Coordinator. He is also responsible for all DNA and .ore. assets in the Outer Naplian (Capellan) periphery so if there are any further issues, please take it up with him.
For any and all other matters, please forward your request directly to the DNA directorate services at NexusID: DNA people.
The Foreign Ministry objects one last time to your illegal claim jump of Aladdin, but we realise it is time to de-escalate.
Normally i would sign off with Naambta, but doing so would be hypocritical. Let me say good riddance instead.
I hereby resign in protest!

Chairman TonTon,
Foreign Minister, DNA
cc: Directorate Services personnel coordinator - !urgent resignation!

DTR threaten WMB with fines for multiple breaches of DTR Law

Lady Sylvansight of the DTR has issued a fine of 1,000,000 stellars to the Wimbles for multiple breaches of DTR Penal and Territorial Law. This seems a very brave move of the DTR to risk upsetting the huge and warlike WMB when they also have the rival NHS Solo system claim to deal with. No word has been recieved yet that the Wimbles are going to pay, but if the formidable WMB warfleet is seen heading for the DTR home systems we will know what their thought are on the matter. The DTR and WMB fleets going head to head would be a sight to behold.

DNA and GTT clash over Aladdin system claim while Pirates look on.

The GTT have this week launched an attack on the DNA outpost in Aladdin, in what appears to be little more than a turkey shoot. Around 100,000 GTT Naplian Startroopers attacked the DNA position to remove the rival system claim. Reports indicate the DNA garrison were taken by surprise and lost control of the base in the first few hours of the fighting. The base has since been reflagged from [Free Naplian Capital] Peaceful Protest to [Loyal Naplian Capital] DNA claim Ended so it's fair to say there was a clear message being sent by the GTT. We have been waiting for the DNA leadership to comment but so far they have been unusually silent. No doubt when they have crawled out from under their desks they will have something to say on the matter.

While this attack was going on several pirate ships were also seen in Aladdin, according to the GTT in what may be true or may be a diversion, with reports of a pirate GP and scout being destroyed while a 150HH pirate warship slipped away and escaped from incoming anti-pirate patrols.

Secret meeting of the EEM

A recent communication intercepted by one of our top reporters today made us aware of a meeting of the EEM. This is underway in a top secret location called Black Pool, which sounds suspiciously like the lair of a pirate band. After pulling in many favours, we were able to identify some of the attending members. On the bases that they won't be named we were able to find out some slight information of the subjects to be discussed at the meeting and one thing is for certain, there could be huge impacts to the lives of everybody living in the galaxy. Details to follow. When the shadowy figures of the EEM come together with the top political players in a pirate base the possibilities are endless!

You are never more than 6 systems from a RAT ðŸ€

A new saying has arisen in the bars and spaceport of starbases throughout the many peripheries; you are never more than 6 systems from a RAT.

It is understood that this saying originated in Yank and spread by trade vessels to peripheries far and wide. Many starbases have heightened their security and added additional sensors and locks to various entry points including foul and grey water outfalls. Beer and drug stocks are undergoing increased proofing to avoid the critters gaining entry and consuming the stockpiles.

Will this present as a new plague of proportions never before seen or is this some simple urban myth being spread for the amusement of some mischievous entity? Who knows, but to be certain... check the shadows.

This year we will again be returning to the Briardene Hotel. They were welcoming, the bar didn't run out of beer pre-covid and there was room for quiet chats. Along with Wetherspoons there is the Victoria just down the road (Sam Smiths - last time beer was around 2 shillings per pint and a full round was less than £10).

Mostly drinking beer and talking toot though we have a good few things on the agenda.

Bookings are done directly with the hotel. Book by phone and say that you are with KJC Games

All staff should be able to deal with the booking but if there are any problems ask for Tracy (manager) as she dealt with all our foibles in previous years.

Dog days are over

With the fall of the DEN and the implosion of their home territory as the AFT, DTR and GTT moved in, it was unlikely the Dewiek would rise again. The DWP gave the species a little hope with the Dewiek Pocket Periphery kept under lock and key. But news has reached us of the AFT's penetration of this private area of space that's been locked down. With a base and claim in one of the three visible systems it seems that the end of the Dewiek is near. A once noble and aggressive race, determined to make an impact on the galaxy is now little more than a species that lives under the command of others. A sad end to a once powerful species that used to control a significant part of known space.

Pirate activity continues

Yet more reports of pirate activity have been received, one from the WMB, losing a freighter in Solo and another from the FET who reported they had engaged and hit the attacking pirate ship with several weapons before it managed to make off with it's prize. Hopefully the pirate ship took significant damage and will now be out of action for some time. The Corewards periphery seems to have been plagued with pirates recently and many travellers would welcome a break from attacks.

MEK incursion into Corewards

The FET and GTT have mounted a joint venture into Nog-Kesri to tackle a MEK force. It isn't known where they have come from, with the only other MEK ships seen so far being located in the Orion Spur. The lack of a known link between where they have appeared in Corewards and the Orion Spur has caused some concern among planetary populations as who knows where they could turn up next! Fortunately the combined FET/GTT task force dealt the MEK a heavy blow and the threat has been eradicated. But we all know this is unlikely to be the last we hear of the MEK in Corwards and we would encourage ship captains to keep a keen eye on thier sensor screens when travelling near Nog-Kesri.

    Aladdin faces ongoing DNA/GTT tension

The tensions between the DNA and GTT in the Coptuv system recently spilled over into the DNA system of Aladdin. A significant party of GTT ground troops has reinforced one of their bases in the system and claimed it, forcing the system claim into turmoil as the DNA finds itself under threat of losing the system. With the DNA chairman asking for help, several affiliations have been seen sending ships to evacuate any in the local population that want to escape the GTT. But so far not a shot has been fired and despite the AFT, FEL and DTR assistance no reisistance to the claim jump has been encountered so far. It remains to be seen if the DNA and it's friends will scatter before this hostile take over or put in a last minute counter claim to thwart GTT intentions.

    Increasing pirate activity

Recent reports indicate a new surge in pirate attacks with the AFT and GTT reporting ships lost. Knowing how some don't like to advertise losses we wouldn't be surprised if this is the tip of the iceberg. Reports passed to us show the ship PIR Scavenger running ID 43174 and another ship of the same name running ID 68668 have both been in action with successful boarding attempts. It's unknown whether these are seperate ships or the same ship reregistered, but our information suggests that it would be hard for these pirates to cover the space where these attacks happened with just one ship. One thing is for sure, be on your guard as open space is not as safe as it once was.

GCE ships loitering in deep space

After the fall of the GCE and a lot of their assets being shared or purchased it was thought that the affiliation was no more. Yet deep space scans indicate that there is still a significant number of GCE warships holding station in deep space between Coptuv and Yank on the transport route into the Corwards Arm. Nobody knows what these ships are up to and why they are still flagged GCE, but our best guess is that are captains either awaiting new orders or owners after the fall of the GCE command structure.

    Tension in the Corewards Arm

With the DNA obtaining several ex-GCE bases in the Coreward Arm it has found itself in the middle of an asset grab of serious proportions and aggression. Our reporters witnessed several GTT troop carriers heading for the Corewards system as the DNA published information suggesting they were accidental owners of the system and that the assets were to be moved on. As the GTT ships started to arrive the bases were quickly passed to the CIA, thus thwarting the GTT intentions as they were hardly likely to start dropping troops on their allies bases. This shrew move by the DNA seems to have calmed matters in the Coreward arm temporarily, although the shift in relations between the GTT and DNA has taken a negative turn. When asked what their next move might be the GTT refused to comment.

    GCE collapse

The GCE are no more, save for some scattered light freighters. The affiliation which enjoyed a sharp rise and profiltable relations with many has ceased trading. Rumors point to the GTT buying up GCE assets before stripping the rival corporation of anything of value. Although our reporters at the SSS have been quick to point out that any GCE assets not in GTT systems have been taken over by both the DNA and FET. So it seems many different affiliations were able to profit from this development including a new group called the HSH who appear to have taken over the GCE war fleet. No doubt many in the peripheries will be watching with interest where these ships are used, who the HSH are and how they were able to get thier hands on so many warships so quickly.

    Secudus trials

In the Cluster Secudus has continued his trials, claiming to root out terrorists working against the Empire. With tends of thousands of beings being sent to the camps or worse. There is no sign of these actions stopping as the NHS clamp down on the locals and bring them under the harsh control of the Empire.

    Persistent Browser-Based Game (PBBG)

I’ve played on and off for approximately 10 years, over a 20 year spell. After some interesting debate on the in-game forum, I did wonder what, exactly, has kept drawing me back to the game, when for so many others I’ve generally lost interest after a few months.

Ultimately, I think it is a combination of automation (that allows the game to handle thousands of positions to interact on a daily basis) coupled with Special Actions (that allow the story arc to develop in a way that could not be catered for by a set of predefined list of available orders).
