Subspace Static - 208.36  [Recruit]

Architects

In other non-pirate related news throughout the Peripheries this week, there was a shock when the mysterious ARC apparently initiated the first phase of their plan. We have received the following firsthand witness report of the Architects actions from the Mohache vessel that was on scene:
“It was stardate 208.32.2 as the captains pulled into a loose orbit around the Kasmer stargate point.
The food was almost ready as they put the ships onto autopilot waiting for the gate keys to build charge before diving into the gate-point.
As the captains did the final checks of the systems, the rudementry sensor system started flashing, "Unknown Orbital Object Detected!"
It takes a lot for MOH captains to be late for dinner, but this was serious, the sensor systems weren't the best, but if they signalled a warning it had to be looked into.
Looking at the sensor logs it soon became apparent what had trigged the warning, the huge mass on the opposite orbit of the wormhole entrance...

Code:

ARC SHIP FOUNDATION (36163) - {400 Heavy Hulls}
Arc Adult Class Capital Ship {Advanced Heavy Armour}

The captains checked with each other for confirmation... this was bad, they knew this ship had been stirring up trouble in other systems, and it was HERE.
What to do? The ISR engines didn't have the charge to jump from the system; The stargate keys didn't have the charge to activate the stargate...
There was really no choice... they would have to wait it out... it might not cause any trouble after all...
Now on to more important things..... DINNER!”

*******
Star Date 208.32.4
So good so far...
Swarms of Imperial Force ships had been showing up for the last few days. It didn't seem as if anything had kicked off yet, but this really wasn't a place to be hanging around at for long.

The Green Light
The keys had finally built charge.
The word spread throughout the ships, a short dash now to the wormhole entrance and they would finally be leaving this increasingly uncomfortable situation.
The signal was given and the squadron broke orbit, beginning the spiral in to the spacepoint of the stargate...

>activate stargate keys<
A brief hum, but the view screen showed no stargate portal opening... in fact it showed nothing... the gate hadn't opened!
Alarm spread throughout the crew, what had happened, or rather, what hadn't happened...
Checking the system logs...
Code:
Enter Stargate {xxx} {0}
Error - The stargate has been deactivated.

This was not good.... Who... What... How....
The captains could only guess, but that was for later, for now an alternative exit would have to be found!”

With details of what happened unclear and conflicting, we at the IGN thank a member of the Imperial Services who kindly provided a copy of his after-action report, providing unparalleled details into this mysterious sequence of events.

The Battle of Kasmer Stargate

Background:
Stardate 208.28
ARC positions strike at an AFT and IMP position, the later of which has previously been un-reported.
Stardate 209.29
ARC Ship Foundation is observed in Kasmer, the very same ship that attached the AFT in solo, later moving to the stargate at Delta 7, where is seems to remain. IMP Platform Commander Marshall Law issues the following SA.
The officer of the IMP platform Cape Horn Orbital II transmits an opening communication to the ARC ship that is currently in close proximity to the stargate. The message extends a hand of friendship to the vessel and attempt to understand what if any grievance it has with humanity in an effort to re-establish harmonious relations.
The vessel however simply does not respond. It does even acknowledge receiving the message.
It appears to be scanning the region of space linked to the stargate. It is moving sequentially though various energies and frequencies. The stargate however does not appear to respond to anything so far. Judging by the rate, it is probably going to be here for some months but as to why it is doing this, the team have no idea.
Stardate 208.29
Using a pre-established ARC contact route a secondary Imperial position tries to make contact with the ARC. This special action has been edited to protect information of a sensitive nature.
The ARC are contacted by the IMP captain.
They are questioned as to why the ARC ship attacked a peaceful AFT and IMP position.
Absolutely no communication is forthcoming.
The officer then stresses the impact of soured relationships and the possible need for retaliatory action should further attacks occur.
Again the ARC are completely silent. This is very unusual as they have invariably replied in the past even if their answers have been somewhat vague.
Stardate 208.29
An imperial science team is quickly established to analysis the actions of the ARC ship in Kasmer
Investigation/ARC Stargate Activity/Analysis of Recorded Transmissions/208.29
The research team are taken of their current projects for a short while in order to determine what the ARC ship in close proximity to the Kasmer stargate is up to.
There is a lot of head scratching but the theory is that it is using the recorded signals merely as a carrier wave for a subspace transmission. It is probably doing something to the stargate - what though is a mystery. There is so much to stargates that is simply not understood..
The best minds in Imperial space are then quickly rushed into the direct proximity of the ship and the Kasmer Stargate.
Stardate 208.32
Imperial team consider the implication of a gate closure and current hostile nature of the ARC, conclusion is drawn to disrupt activities whilst the transmission analysis continues.
Special Action/Stargate/Disrupt ARC Ship Foundation's Scanning/208.323
A broad beam transmission is aimed at the local region of space in order to disrupt the ARC ship's presumably careful scanning of the stargate.
As the platform only has a small number of jammers to use as the basis for this project it is unlikely to be overly successful.
The team however have noticed that there was a spike energy beam from the ship on 208.32.1 and output from the ship has increased moderately. They therefore wonder if their actions will have an effect as the ship does not react at this time. Maybe some more jammers will do the trick.
Update 208.32
Having increased the jammers the broadcast output is boosted.
The ARC ship ceases its scanning. A single message is recieved, "Cease".
At this point, an FET position reported that the Kasmer Stargate had been closed, via means unknown, though likely due to the signal being sent by the IMP triggering an ARC response. IMP Platform Cape Horn Orbital II, elected to ignore the first response received from the ARC, chartered affiliation warships vectoring in on the location.
ARC SHIP FOUNDATION (36163) - {400 Heavy Hulls} - Attacking us.
Update 208.32.5
Having had all his teeth loosened by the barrage from the first Mature ARC ship ever engaged, the officer decides it is best to cease transmitting the interference.

Battle Day 1
A few IMP and a good number of GTT warships, the first to respond made the gate orbit in the day between the request to cease and the attack, though IMP warships defending the Platform were the first to fire. The battle summary has been edited to protect armour and other information etc.

The ARC ship exhibited excellent defensive systems and withstood the 4 rounds of attack, including fire from a 1400 Hull platform, which suffered slightly more that ¼ damage in return. 4 GTT Gun Boats were also destroyed.
Battle Day 2 – The fleet arrive.
Signalling the end for the ARC, a small number of the combined IMP, GTT and FET battle fleets arrived to finish the job, in the region of 200 in all. Due to a targeting computer malfunction 3 IND freighters, trying to use the gate, were caught up in a friendly fire incident and utterly destroyed, 3 IMP Capital ships were also destroyed in the encounter.

We here at the IGN would like to thank the IMP for this rare and valuable insight.

Kasmer Stargate
With the Stargate closed to all traffic following the ARC interferance, it is understood the re-opening of the gate became a priority.
Fortunately it seems as if re-initialising the gate was a relatively simple procedure, and the Imperial Services are reporting that the gate has re-opened, and normal service has been resumed for all wishing to transit.

ARC Menace
With the ARC Ship Foundation destroyed in battle by the combined IMP/FET/GTT navies, there are increasing rumblings throughout known space. Our newsroom has received dozens of reports of transient sightings of further giant ARC ships prowling the dark outer reaches of systems throughout the Inner and Outer Capellan peripheries, including a sighting in Capella itself.
Whatever they were trying to do to the stargate network remains a mystery, but one thing is for certain, the Architects plans will not be foiled by the destruction of one vessel.

Lord Goth Surrenders

Following his outspoken condemnation of pirates and those who support them, the pirate mercenary company Wolfpack promptly made it their business to inflict maximum hurt upon GTT holdings.
In a day of action Wolfpack forces captured 9 GTT outposts, mostly in the Wastelands system, and a further 3 more destroyed by orbital bombardment. We have received partial details of the targets:

GTT OUTPOST SARAH FIB (24328)
1 Hiport (1016)
7 Mine (1002)
GTT OUTPOST MISA041 (89682)
1 Command Centre (1000)
1 Domes (1007)
2 Hiport (1016)
6 Mine (1002)
1 Teleporter (1022)
GTT OUTPOST INFLAN1 (43928)
1 Command Centre (1000)
3 Domes (1007)
1 Hiport (1016)
4 Mine (1002)
3 Orbital Dock (1008)
GTT OUTPOST WASGID 1 (6900)
2 Cave (1021)
1 Command Centre (1000)
1 Hiport (1016)
1 Mine (1002)
1 Teleporter (1022)
GTT OUTPOST WASSAH2 (82828)
1 Command Centre (1000)
1 Factory (1001)
4 Mine (1002)

The Wolfpack mercs then demanded an apology and climb down from Lord Goth, or they would destroy the outposts and scrap all of the materiel collected at them.
Following a tense standoff Lord Goth bowed to the pressure from the Wolfpack mercs, a humiliation that seemed to satisfy the Wolfpack, as they agreed to call off their vendetta against the GTT.

Pirate Large
It is understood a Falconian freighter has fallen to Pirate Large

Compensation
The GTT have indicated that they have paid full and generous reparations to the owner of the IND vessels that were destroyed during the recent battle with the ARC at the Kasmer Stargate.
While unhappy with the loss of his vessels, the IND trader in question is understood to be happy with this settlement, and the statement from the leader of the GTT that his organisation takes their responsibilities to offer such compensation very seriously indeed.

Gandolph On The Run
The ex-Patrol Commissioner who was recently unveiled as Pirate Large remains on the run this week, following his escape from what many are now calling the criminally incompetent Imperial Security Services.
It is still unclear exactly how much in the way of men vessels and material he was able to abscond with, but what is certain is that Pirate Large remains a major threat to the security of the Peripheries.

Pressure Mounts On Viceroy
Our newsroom continues to be contacted by large numbers of civilians throughout the Peripheries asking why the Imperial Viceroy is yet to offer any compensation to the victims of pirate Large, when it is apparent that Large had the backing of the Imperial Services.
We would ask the Viceroy for his opinion on this, but we think he probably doesn’t want to see IGN reporters at the moment.

Pirate Large
The one-time Imperial Patrol Commissioner and now renegade Pirate Large has been in operation this week striking against a GTT target.
Large has reported the action as follows:

“Ahhargghhh me hearties........... It be aye............... Pirate Large................

I as been tolds that the censorin will get better on ere likes an to keep posting me stuff, so ill give it a go, if it dun work out then fu..........ooo nearly slipped up there.

now we be back at works aye an we started off as befores, an we be, well, [censored], drinkin, gamblin etc etc
well we looked at this ere Goff bloke, all gob likes he is, an i thought id tickle the GTT a bit, i carn believe he as been bought out already an duns a deal wiv other pirates to lay off em, seems a poof to me but there yee goes.
me boys readied thee weapons for a fire fight an wen up against the large GTT outpost, GTT OUTPOST XXXXX (88267) - {1-4} 466 kMus (info removed fer tacti reasons)
a very easy battle it be an we tooks it.
out of the employees nearly 700 there be, quite a few of em were keen on Gofs attitude, so i showed em the error o their ways aye an took me pound o flesh out of em.
[censored]
i as left now an decommissoned the place, so it be nice doin business wivs yer. although i will have to admit this not be my types o business, no profit in it fer me, an unusual thing fer me to say i knows, but it was more fer a bit o revenge likes, i doubts this will be me motive long term, ill be back in me usual full blown ways aye.
i is also gettin me ships out there more, i is watchin yee now a bit more, so keeps yer eyes peeled.
any ways im sure you will hear more from the Glorious Adventures of the
pirate ship Large(and friends).............aahaaarrgh”

FLZ Press Release
The Flagritz Empire have released the following press release regarding the recent increase in their trading activities:
“The FLZ welcomes recent trade efforts of certain affiliations selling their goods at our starbase "_Cliriq Lijori" (2875) located in Solo easily accessible to all affiliations thanks to the AFT free trade policy.
We welcome the set up of any trade route with all affiliations. We have a strong morale code. A fine example of how races can live trade and work together in harmony.”

GTT Pirates?
Some curious action was fought this week when a number of pirate vessels bearing imitation GTT flags launched an attack against a RIP outpost.
It is thought the pirates painted the GTT markings on the sides of their ships as a means towards insulting Lord Goth, whose recent actions have earnt him the attentions of pirates throughout the Peripheries.

Yet More Pirates
The Detinus Republic news agencies are reporting a pirate scout attack against the primary DTR trading base of New Darien in the Venice system.
The pirate ground party, calling itself ‘Pirate 23’, was destroyed in short order.

Architects
Our newsroom has received reports of increased sightings of a new ARC vessel moving within the Peripheries. It is understood the vessel carries the slightly ominous sounding name of Delegation.

Tyranny Mourns In Remembrance
The Prides of the Tyranny have been in mourning this week, remembering the anniversary of the 'Trophy Massacre' the single greatest loss of Felini life since the assault on our homeworld. when the psychotic ( by Flagritz standards) Emperor Eatzbaybees has tens of thousands of Felini prisoners of war executed before publicly gloating and offering to sell the remains as trophies to any race that wanted them.

Phoenix SSS: 207 week 32 day 5

Quote:

Underlings,
As many of you may know, we recently exterminated many tens of
thousands feline prisoners. The resulting pile of bones and charred furry
bits has left us with an opportunity for trade. Once we remove the felines
from battlefield and so can move our cargos to market, we will be
selling Feline trophy bones (**) at reasonable rates.
Mass orders can be made in advance. This is a very sustainable

Lord Goth Assassinated

The Wolfpack Mercenary company have broken news of the shock assassination of the GTT security director Lord Goth, with the following simple communication to our newsroom:
“Today Lord Goth was terminated by one of my operatives. Please put it in the SSS.
Not often we have a major political assassinated.
Assassinate {40161}
Starbase detected our actions.
Lord Goth (40161) was successfully eliminated.
Total TU cost for this action is 50
This action cost you 10000 stellars

The security director of the GTT is dead.

Wolfgang,
Wolfpack Squadron.”

Following some initial and hardly surprising confusion, we have indeed been able to confirm that Lord Goth has perished.
There has as yet been no official GTT response, though the office of the late Lord Goth has indicated they have several strong leads on who might have been behind the attack, and who the backers of the Wolfpack Mercs is.
We expect there to be more news on this over the coming weeks and months.

RIP Under Attack
Everybody’s favourite innocents the RIP have come under attack in one of their secure systems this week by a number of pirate ground parties.
Despite suggestions that this was some sort of stunt to try and demonstrate that the RIP were no friends of pirates, and the RIPs refusal to accept the military support offered by the Detinus Republic (which admittedly would have included a massively over the top orbital bombardment), it seems clear that the RIP have indeed suffered once again at the hands of the Imperial Services, uh, we mean, pirates.
Allegedly.
Okay, we’re sure it had nothing to do with the IMP.
Will that satisfy our lawyers?

Imperial Forces Publicly Declare Support For Pirate Large
There have been shocking scenes this week that were brought to our attention by a concerned reader, when the newly promoted Imperial Patrol Commissioner General Ike Kreiger was heard to say, and we quote:
"Pirate Large ... I know you only want to help, really that's the kind
of guy you are" - General Ike Krieger

As one reader puts it: “I am concerned at the level of respect the commissioner is showing towards one of the more notorious pirates. Has the level of corrupting within the Imperial Services reached such a level that scant weeks after taking on the position the commissioner is favouring such scum?”

Pirate Destroyed
The AFT and SMS destroyed a pirate Ambush Class Destroyer in Solo this week when it entered orbit of SMS Fortress.
The Ambush Class Destroyer is an ex-DNA design, a number of which defected to the Flagritz to continue their war of attrition against the Consortium, which has sparked speculation that the FLZ may have been behind this attack. Though it is unclear as to why they might have felt the need to re-flag their vessel as a pirate before launching the strike.

Pirate Destroyed
The pirate vessel Eyes Of Large has been destroyed in the inner reaches of the Tycoon system when two IMP and SMS patrols happened to intercept it. A GTT warship was also involved in the action, which saw the small pirate scout thoroughly blasted into pieces.

Action In Skye
A small pirate ground party has tickled the defences of the Felini Starbase Arrakeen on the planet Squamata. It is thought this scouting party was intended to uncover the strength of the FEL defenders, perhaps in preparation for some larger action.

Black Dog
Strange rumours are circulating that the pirate Black Dog might be intending to go straight, though honestly we gave up trying to decipher his poorly spelt and grammatically apocalyptic transmissions, seriously, can NOBODY in the pirating fraternity afford a spellchecker?

Architects
As reported a few weeks ago, it has now been confirmed due to observations of the movements of ARC vessels, that they do indeed possess some sort of super-fast transit system between Periphery systems. Speculation is rife that there may be a hidden network of Architect wormholes that they utilise, or perhaps some form of super-efficient jump drive along the lines of the Hyper Drive system, but even better.

Helping Hand
The Flagritz Emperor has surprisingly offered his assistance to Felini ships, with the following communication:
“Does the Felini need maintenance in Crusade?
We would be pleased to offer a maintenance facility for you, if you
would like to detail ships needing maintenance.
Location:
Crusade (47) - {Gamma,4}
FEL CF Atlaua (19531) - Ship

Hull Damage: 28.0%
INTEGRITY BREAKDOWN - Ship reduced to debris

ARC
The Architect vessel ‘Delegation’ has been spotted at the Twinkle stargate, where it too seems to be engaged in some sort of mysterious communication with the stargate network.
Investigations by several periphery powers are underway, but nobody has as yet cared to air an opinion as to what the ARC might be up to.

Falconian Empire
In other major news this week, it seems as if the Falconian Empire has been overthrown. The office of Darius Shirazi has issued the following press release:
“Citizens, Friends and Other Interested Parties:
I would like to announce that as of today, I have seized control of
the Empire in a bloodless coup. My first priority will be to bring
order to the Empire and establish diplomatic relations with all
parties especially our allies in the Consortium and our friends and
trading parties elsewhere.
Please be advised whilst I will endeavour to maintain business as usual
in matters of trade and wish to fulfil any existing treaty
obligations, it would be in everybody's interest if you get in touch
to discuss these matters.
Finally, the old Emperor is presumed alive and well and will be given
a generous pension and a size-able position in running our interests
in Yank and Storm once he returns to public life. For the moment, all
your inquiries can be handled by my office.
Peace Be Upon You,
Darius Shirazi”

IGN reporters stationed at our Falencia offices are reporting that Darius Shirazi gathered representatives of the civilian government, military officers, House leaders and other notable Falconians together to tell them that the time for Emperors was over and the Falconians will enter a new age of democracy.
There are rumours that significant gifts were given to the Falconian hierarchy in order to encourage their co-operation, but this rumour has been neither confirmed nor denied by any of the parties involved.
Further it is apparent that many of the heads and nobles declined the offer and a few did not even bother to respond. Many civilian officials also gave excuses.
To understand why is to view the history of the Empire. The world itself is dominated by noble houses and their interest is their own territory. The first Emperor was an outsider not belonging to any one noble house and to his banner flocked other Falconians that either wanted to leave the planet or had been exiled from their factions. This is why the Empire might control other planets, but is little more than a guest on its homeworld.
Humans have compared Falconia to Ancient Rome where they controlled cities and lands beyond the gates and these were defended by armies but within the walls of Rome itself, there were no police or armies.
According to a straw poll taken by our reporters in the aeries of the Falconian capital, the general consensus of opinion is that if the current Emperor wishes to rename the Empire a Republic, he is more than capable; for the majority of the populace, they really don't give a damn what is happening off-world and continue their perpetual squabbles.
Several IGN reporters suffered severe pecking injuries during their research for this story.

Falconians Celebrate Birth Of Democracy
Celebrations have been held to mark the birth of the Falconian Republic, with
50,000 Moh Prize Cattle being given to the civilians of Falencia in an effort to ease them into the new dawn of democracy.
While it is safe to say that many civilians do not care whether the current emperor declares his faction an empire or a republic, they are not stupid enough to miss out on a free party and the region around Falencia has been thronged with civilians for days.
IGN reporters were on hand to witness the 50,000 cattle being swooped on and shredded in an orgy of blood and guts while the walls (and it has to be said, IGN reporters) were hung with tatters of bloody fur for kilometres around.
In related news, the IGN is looking to recruit new reporters for a number of exciting job opportunities that have opened up in the Falconian Republic.

Piracy
The SMS vessel EI-T Blois has fallen to the pirate vessel Quatre Bras.
The Quatre Bras has been confirmed as an ex-DTR Broadsword class Heavy Cruiser that was captured by Pirate Large during the operation at the pirate asteroid base Treasure Chest.

**Special Report**
In Pursuit Of The ARC
The Inter-Galactic Newsroom has received the following special report from the Imperial Services regarding their ongoing altercations with the Architects. Again we would like to thank the Imperial Services for their contribution to the press.
The following information is being provided under the authority of the Imperial Council, some details have been removed in the compilation on this report to protect information of a sensitive nature.

Background
Following the attack on Imperial forces at the Kasmer stargate, a pair of ARC ships, an adult and a youngster were spotted, grounded, in an Imperial system. Following the previous naval engagement, the decision was taken to send in the ground pounders and see if the ships could not be captured, General Duke Krieger lead the forces to storm the grounded vessels.

Sensored
ARC Nymph (64208) has fallen to the attackers.

The youngster (Hulk Class Destroyer) was also captured following a similar raid, by a crack squad of 500 army rangers and supporting units.
The dual attacks which occurred simultaneously, lead to the capture of the entire list of ARC installed tech, including the fearsome weapon arrays and the ARC mind, which appeared to be dormant and did not respond to attack. Theories were considered as the nature of the relationship of the two ships and lack of response, perhaps an exhausting experience?, mother and child?, no firm conclusions were drawn.
Imperial ships where vectored to support and blockade, whilst extraction was conducted, and in preparation of a retaliatory strike from the ARC, that response happened the day following when the ARC SHIP MOTIVATION (21465) arrived, before complete mobilisation or the IMP and allied GTT/FET forces had been completed, the orbital bombardment that was then delivered was of such magnitude, both the captured hulk and adult where utterly destroyed along with all installed technology, the surviving marines, counted many dead in their number from splash damage, only their extensive training prevented further losses, the speed of the response was un-thinkable, for a ship thought to be nowhere near this location.
The following day the dispatched allied fleet arrived, and made good orbit to engage the ARC ship, it however made it escapes (under the leave combat flag) and then smashed through a small blockade of cruisers already in attendance, sustaining heavy damage in so doing. The Imperial fleet gave chase, tracking the wounded vessel to another allied system, there it was again found to be landed, no doubt licking its wounds.
The Imperial response on this occasion, left nothing to chance, covering both ground and naval options, the forces of General Krieger were again dispatched, and a complete blockade established, the general on this occasion was not in attendance, many have theorised the consequences of his absence in the results that now follow.

The following broken transmissions were taken from the intercom of private Hudson who survived the attempts to storm the ARC ship, and is now rumoured to be peeling potatoes at Fort Krieger:
“It cut the power”. “What do you mean, "*it* cut the power"? How could it cut the power, man? It’s an animal man!”
“I got signals. I got readings, in front and behind.”
“Look, I'm telling ya, there's somethin' movin' and it ain't us! Tracker's off scale, man. They're all around us, man. Jesus!”
“Oh dear Lord Jesus, this ain't happening, man... This can't be happening, man! This isn't happening!”
“It’s coming outta the walls. It’s coming outta the goddamn walls. Let's book!”
“Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!”
“Let's just bug out and call it even, OK? What are we talking about this for?”
“That's it man, game over man, game over! What the f**k are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?”
-------------------------
A further drop was made as the troops prepared for the 4th round, clearly the ARC mind in this case was ready for attack following the capture of the Nymph in the weeks previous, but the ARC ship Motivation had clearly had it fill of the sustained ground attacks, and decided to take its chances with the waiting naval forces in Blockade of the planetary body, a poor choice as it turns out, 1 cruiser, 1 carrier and 3 capital ships were lost in the fire fight.

Solo claim swings back and forth

The situation in Solo appears to be getting even more heated. First the NHS dropped 600,000 troops to contest the system and then the DTR answered with enough troops of their own to trump the NHS claim. The NHS found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim up to 750,000 and once again the DTR answered, bringing Solo back under DTR control. Now the NHS have had a look down the back of the sofa and found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim to a massive 900,000 trained troops. We wait to see if the DTR have an answer to this. We can only guess where all these troops are coming from, but what is clear is that the established affiliations clearly have far larger armies than many thought.

NHS attempt to claim Solo away from DTR

In a shock move the NHS have contested the Solo claim with a huge garrison of 600,000 trained troops. In a move that nobody saw coming, especially as it was unknown the NHS had such a large force of troops to draw upon, the NHS seem to be provoking a response from the DTR. Currently there has been no word from the DTR in how they are going to deal with this claim jumping, although rumours are that they are pretending the Solo claim doesn't really matter to them and so action is unlikely. However this may be a smokescreen and we may yet see the DTR's powerful fleet cause havoc in the system of Solo, which has for a long time been an important junction and fought over by many different factions.

DNA Chairman TonTon resigns

The following communication has been leaked from the DNA to the GTT's PD.

Greetings CEO Fox.
It regrets me to have to inform to you that the DNA nation state will be renouncing its claim on Aladdin system following a ceremony planet side, shortly.
However, it gives me great pleasure to have to inform you that these ceremonies are being planned by Vladimir Tavikovitch, the South Road Traffic Coordinator. He is also responsible for all DNA and .ore. assets in the Outer Naplian (Capellan) periphery so if there are any further issues, please take it up with him.
For any and all other matters, please forward your request directly to the DNA directorate services at NexusID: DNA people.
The Foreign Ministry objects one last time to your illegal claim jump of Aladdin, but we realise it is time to de-escalate.
Normally i would sign off with Naambta, but doing so would be hypocritical. Let me say good riddance instead.
I hereby resign in protest!

Chairman TonTon,
Foreign Minister, DNA
cc: Directorate Services personnel coordinator - !urgent resignation!

DTR threaten WMB with fines for multiple breaches of DTR Law

Lady Sylvansight of the DTR has issued a fine of 1,000,000 stellars to the Wimbles for multiple breaches of DTR Penal and Territorial Law. This seems a very brave move of the DTR to risk upsetting the huge and warlike WMB when they also have the rival NHS Solo system claim to deal with. No word has been recieved yet that the Wimbles are going to pay, but if the formidable WMB warfleet is seen heading for the DTR home systems we will know what their thought are on the matter. The DTR and WMB fleets going head to head would be a sight to behold.

DNA and GTT clash over Aladdin system claim while Pirates look on.

The GTT have this week launched an attack on the DNA outpost in Aladdin, in what appears to be little more than a turkey shoot. Around 100,000 GTT Naplian Startroopers attacked the DNA position to remove the rival system claim. Reports indicate the DNA garrison were taken by surprise and lost control of the base in the first few hours of the fighting. The base has since been reflagged from [Free Naplian Capital] Peaceful Protest to [Loyal Naplian Capital] DNA claim Ended so it's fair to say there was a clear message being sent by the GTT. We have been waiting for the DNA leadership to comment but so far they have been unusually silent. No doubt when they have crawled out from under their desks they will have something to say on the matter.

While this attack was going on several pirate ships were also seen in Aladdin, according to the GTT in what may be true or may be a diversion, with reports of a pirate GP and scout being destroyed while a 150HH pirate warship slipped away and escaped from incoming anti-pirate patrols.

Secret meeting of the EEM

A recent communication intercepted by one of our top reporters today made us aware of a meeting of the EEM. This is underway in a top secret location called Black Pool, which sounds suspiciously like the lair of a pirate band. After pulling in many favours, we were able to identify some of the attending members. On the bases that they won't be named we were able to find out some slight information of the subjects to be discussed at the meeting and one thing is for certain, there could be huge impacts to the lives of everybody living in the galaxy. Details to follow. When the shadowy figures of the EEM come together with the top political players in a pirate base the possibilities are endless!

You are never more than 6 systems from a RAT ðŸ€

A new saying has arisen in the bars and spaceport of starbases throughout the many peripheries; you are never more than 6 systems from a RAT.

It is understood that this saying originated in Yank and spread by trade vessels to peripheries far and wide. Many starbases have heightened their security and added additional sensors and locks to various entry points including foul and grey water outfalls. Beer and drug stocks are undergoing increased proofing to avoid the critters gaining entry and consuming the stockpiles.

Will this present as a new plague of proportions never before seen or is this some simple urban myth being spread for the amusement of some mischievous entity? Who knows, but to be certain... check the shadows.

This year we will again be returning to the Briardene Hotel. They were welcoming, the bar didn't run out of beer pre-covid and there was room for quiet chats. Along with Wetherspoons there is the Victoria just down the road (Sam Smiths - last time beer was around 2 shillings per pint and a full round was less than £10).

Mostly drinking beer and talking toot though we have a good few things on the agenda.

Dog days are over

With the fall of the DEN and the implosion of their home territory as the AFT, DTR and GTT moved in, it was unlikely the Dewiek would rise again. The DWP gave the species a little hope with the Dewiek Pocket Periphery kept under lock and key. But news has reached us of the AFT's penetration of this private area of space that's been locked down. With a base and claim in one of the three visible systems it seems that the end of the Dewiek is near. A once noble and aggressive race, determined to make an impact on the galaxy is now little more than a species that lives under the command of others. A sad end to a once powerful species that used to control a significant part of known space.

Pirate activity continues

Yet more reports of pirate activity have been received, one from the WMB, losing a freighter in Solo and another from the FET who reported they had engaged and hit the attacking pirate ship with several weapons before it managed to make off with it's prize. Hopefully the pirate ship took significant damage and will now be out of action for some time. The Corewards periphery seems to have been plagued with pirates recently and many travellers would welcome a break from attacks.

MEK incursion into Corewards

The FET and GTT have mounted a joint venture into Nog-Kesri to tackle a MEK force. It isn't known where they have come from, with the only other MEK ships seen so far being located in the Orion Spur. The lack of a known link between where they have appeared in Corewards and the Orion Spur has caused some concern among planetary populations as who knows where they could turn up next! Fortunately the combined FET/GTT task force dealt the MEK a heavy blow and the threat has been eradicated. But we all know this is unlikely to be the last we hear of the MEK in Corwards and we would encourage ship captains to keep a keen eye on thier sensor screens when travelling near Nog-Kesri.

    Aladdin faces ongoing DNA/GTT tension

The tensions between the DNA and GTT in the Coptuv system recently spilled over into the DNA system of Aladdin. A significant party of GTT ground troops has reinforced one of their bases in the system and claimed it, forcing the system claim into turmoil as the DNA finds itself under threat of losing the system. With the DNA chairman asking for help, several affiliations have been seen sending ships to evacuate any in the local population that want to escape the GTT. But so far not a shot has been fired and despite the AFT, FEL and DTR assistance no reisistance to the claim jump has been encountered so far. It remains to be seen if the DNA and it's friends will scatter before this hostile take over or put in a last minute counter claim to thwart GTT intentions.

    Increasing pirate activity

Recent reports indicate a new surge in pirate attacks with the AFT and GTT reporting ships lost. Knowing how some don't like to advertise losses we wouldn't be surprised if this is the tip of the iceberg. Reports passed to us show the ship PIR Scavenger running ID 43174 and another ship of the same name running ID 68668 have both been in action with successful boarding attempts. It's unknown whether these are seperate ships or the same ship reregistered, but our information suggests that it would be hard for these pirates to cover the space where these attacks happened with just one ship. One thing is for sure, be on your guard as open space is not as safe as it once was.

GCE ships loitering in deep space

After the fall of the GCE and a lot of their assets being shared or purchased it was thought that the affiliation was no more. Yet deep space scans indicate that there is still a significant number of GCE warships holding station in deep space between Coptuv and Yank on the transport route into the Corwards Arm. Nobody knows what these ships are up to and why they are still flagged GCE, but our best guess is that are captains either awaiting new orders or owners after the fall of the GCE command structure.

    Tension in the Corewards Arm

With the DNA obtaining several ex-GCE bases in the Coreward Arm it has found itself in the middle of an asset grab of serious proportions and aggression. Our reporters witnessed several GTT troop carriers heading for the Corewards system as the DNA published information suggesting they were accidental owners of the system and that the assets were to be moved on. As the GTT ships started to arrive the bases were quickly passed to the CIA, thus thwarting the GTT intentions as they were hardly likely to start dropping troops on their allies bases. This shrew move by the DNA seems to have calmed matters in the Coreward arm temporarily, although the shift in relations between the GTT and DNA has taken a negative turn. When asked what their next move might be the GTT refused to comment.

    GCE collapse

The GCE are no more, save for some scattered light freighters. The affiliation which enjoyed a sharp rise and profiltable relations with many has ceased trading. Rumors point to the GTT buying up GCE assets before stripping the rival corporation of anything of value. Although our reporters at the SSS have been quick to point out that any GCE assets not in GTT systems have been taken over by both the DNA and FET. So it seems many different affiliations were able to profit from this development including a new group called the HSH who appear to have taken over the GCE war fleet. No doubt many in the peripheries will be watching with interest where these ships are used, who the HSH are and how they were able to get thier hands on so many warships so quickly.

    Secudus trials

In the Cluster Secudus has continued his trials, claiming to root out terrorists working against the Empire. With tends of thousands of beings being sent to the camps or worse. There is no sign of these actions stopping as the NHS clamp down on the locals and bring them under the harsh control of the Empire.

    Persistent Browser-Based Game (PBBG)

I’ve played on and off for approximately 10 years, over a 20 year spell. After some interesting debate on the in-game forum, I did wonder what, exactly, has kept drawing me back to the game, when for so many others I’ve generally lost interest after a few months.

Ultimately, I think it is a combination of automation (that allows the game to handle thousands of positions to interact on a daily basis) coupled with Special Actions (that allow the story arc to develop in a way that could not be catered for by a set of predefined list of available orders).
